"Pope Francis: Having a Personal Relationship with Jesus is Dangerous"

VATICAN CITY (Worthy News)

Pope Francis created a controversy amongst Evangelicals this week, when he stated in his weekly address, that those who believe they can maintain a "personal" and "direct" relationship with Jesus Christ outside the "mediation of the Church" was "dangerous and harmful."
In his weekly address from St. Peter's Square, the Pope said, "No one becomes Christian on his or her own! Is that clear? No one becomes Christian by him- or herself."

"Christians are not made in a laboratory. A Christian is part of a people who comes from afar. The Christian belongs to a people called the Church and this Church is what makes him or her Christian, on the day of Baptism, and then in the course of catechesis, and so on," the Pontiff continued.

"We are able to live this journey not only because of others, but together with others. In the Church there is no 'do it yourself', there are no 'free agents'," the Pope added.

"At times one hears someone say: 'I believe in God, I believe in Jesus, but I don't care about the Church…'. How many times have we heard this? And this is not good. There are those who believe they can maintain a personal, direct and immediate relationship with Jesus Christ outside the communion and the mediation of the Church. These are dangerous and harmful temptations," he continued.

"Dear friends, let us ask the Lord, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, for the grace never to fall into the temptation of thinking we can make it without the others, that we can get along without the Church, that we can save ourselves on our own, of being Christians from the laboratory," the Pope concluded.

Evangelicals have long maintained that one must become "born again" and true faith is not a religion, but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

While many evangelicals are members of churches of many different denominations, the common denominator amongst Evangelicals is the need for a "personal relationship" with Jesus Christ as the sole mediator to God. As Evangelicals often quote, "For there is one mediator between God and Man; the man Jesus Christ." [1 Timothy 2:5]

Sounds to me like he is taking the concept of not forsaking the fellowship of the saints and twisting it all around into a false doctrine to give him and his church more power over people in general. There is power in numbers, and the more people he can convince there is no way they can be right with God short of being a member of his church and bowing to it's ways, the more power and control he has over the entire world. But this is nothing new for them, so not sure how much of a new sign of the end times it would be.

Ever notice how his church always seems to have the most influence in uneducated 3rd world countries where the people are the least educated and therefor the least able to read the truth of the Bible and to think for themselves?

Religious zealots. No surprise here lol.

The lake of fire is awaiting all these ridiculous drones.

No worries.

it is written "many are the afflictions of the righteous but the lord shall deliver him out of them all
it is written"beware of the levan of the pharisses which is hypocrisy"
it is written" before all these things they will deliver u up to synogogues and persecute u and afflict you, some of you shall be beaten and put ti death"

what is a pope to the words of god?

That's not all he had to say.. in this blasphemous statement he makes it abundantly clear who and what he is..

"The church is our mother she cleanses us from our sins"

"It's a gift from God and we must pray for it. To say, 'Lord, grant me the gift of dying at my spiritual home, in the heart of the Church.' We are sinners! All of us are. But we're not traitors. No! We are not corrupt. No! We stay on the inside! The Church, our Mother loves us so, despite our sins, the Church cleanses us. She's our Mother.”

Having a personal relationship with Jesus is definately a Blessing. That is what our Lord wants. To have a daily relationship with him not a religion. If you only have a relationship or think of God on Sunday when you go to Church what is that?It is pretty weak.

I will say Amen:)

The sad thing about the words of the pope is that so many people will believe him. The Apostle John warned about false prophets in the end time. People need to read the scriptures and stop allowing the High Priest of Baal to influence them.

Having a relationship with Christ at all times should include keeping His Commandments.
yes, it's exactly like your son doing something to please you simply because he's your son - if someone from argentina does the same thing, he doesn't thus become your son !

His actions, on the surface, look so good. Paying attention and remembering to act Berian-like and his sayings are, so dangerous. There is, first off, no mother of the Church. This sort of thing spawns the Mother Earth heresy and worship of self. God created the Earth and, suddenly, He cannot deal with the Church without a female, what ¿goddess? That is where Mary is elevated to in this excerpt, goddess. This is not the only error in this speech but it should, certainly, catch every Christian's attention.

Is this why God places such emphasis and importance on actually reading the Bible and not trusting men ?
It sure seems like
if people would read the Bible and believe it, then all the cults and even most errors would 'vanish' or at least lose power over/in their lives.

Or, is there more necessary than just reading the Bible ? like right motives? living spirit? seeking God ? (to understand anything)

There has been an Evangelical meeting held by Kenneth Copeland not too long ago. There was a 'message from the pope' to them. Copeland and others had accepted that message as 'part of the healing process' so to speak. what's next?

A long long time ago, i started to listen to that guy and some others in the same ilk. (k.cop.). never was 'at peace' with his messages, and learned over the next several years why. (not good). as for the revelation to, from and of the protestants(circa about 1517a.d. to 1750a.d.), i'm surprised it got forgotten, except Yhvh has perfect control and orchestration of His Perfect Plan and Purpose and the Fulfillment Exactly of His Word concerning all things.
