Bible Study "he made known to us the mystery of his will" Ephesians 1:9

"he made known to us the mystery of his will" Ephesians 1:9

There is a long ongoing debate about the relevance of religion in the current world. The need of faith and belief in the Supreme Being is often questioned by many pragmatic scientists. The branch of atheism questions the core existence of a supreme being (God) and explains the existence of the universe as purely randomized probability. The origin of life on the surface of the earth is purely a process of reducing chemical reaction which converted the inorganic substrates into organic higher order molecules. A polymerization reaction instigated increased complexity of the organic compounds and formed the first biomolecules. Biomolecules interacted each other again with various probabilities to form the first primitive cell, which can replicate itself. The origin of first living molecule on earth.

In lay man words, science is simply the collection of known available knowledge, apprehended by human intelligence. Science flows by addressing each problem at a time. It is completely based on scientifically reporting an observation, hypothesizing the probability of its course of action with logical reasoning and experimentally validating the reasoning. The output of any scientific endeavor is a conclusion which tries to define the observation, readily understood by mass of scientific thinkers. It is interesting to note how science defines some of the basic questions. How to define red color? Any objects which absorbs all the photons of visible light spectrum other than that of red is defined as red. But, the bigger question is, is the color of the object is red? The real answer is, we don't really know. But, eyes of a mass intellectual humans perceive it as red and hence it is red. Within the vast majority of light spectrum ranging from high energy gama rays to the infra-red rays, human eye can perceive only ten percent of light in the visible region ranging from 780 nanometers (nm) to 390 nm. Their existence is validated not by human eyes directly, but its effects.

The question then become relevant whether to validate the problem of addressing spiritual existence with direct scientific evidence. Given the example of origin of life itself. Bible and science contradicts prima-facie on this subject at least directly. It is a conflict of a spiritual context versus scientific evidence. It might be possible that both are defining life differently. When science defines 'life' as something which can metabolize, reproduce and grow, spiritual writings may define life as something more wholesome and together with God. There are more scientific evidences known now that humans are evolved from monkeys (Darwanian concept). When scripture tells about giving life to human, it may be defining 'life' as the realization of the supreme being and the free-will of human by self-analyzed thought process. In that way, it nullifies the existence of a conflict between spiritual understandings and scientific reasoning.

Is science against God? No. Just as the limitation of our eye to see all the rays of the light spectrum, what we can understand from the fullness of God through our five senses and through our logical reasoning can be categorized as science. Science displays the wonders of God. Each scientific understandings unravel the mightiness and greatness of our God. How beautifully God protects our earth daily? It is astonishing to realize that we are part of a small planet within a solar system among zillions of other stars. But, the danger comes when we tries to define God only through scientific direct evidences. Our nature is a part of God and not the reverse.

It is written in the bible that "the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe" (1 Corinthians 1:21). Thus, the secret or the full understanding of God can only be revealed, not by scientific reasoning, but by believing in Him. A person without this belief and the spirit of God does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:14). By the belief that God revealed His fullness through Jesus Christ. The faith that through the grace given as a gift to us through Jesus Christ we are saved (Ephesians 2:8). That is the mystery hidden to human wisdom. The revelation of all his fullness dwell in him through Jesus Christ. Thus, the best answer to an atheistic friend is to try believing in God, to experience the mystery of His deeds through Jesus Christ.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the scientist and the theologian could put all their finding's together to form a "Bible/Science" project. Perhaps that's what you are doing?
