Regulations could have kept the firework out of his hands.

Reba, do you think the guy should be able to go to Walmart and buy full fledged dynamite? I mean being stupid and drunk is on him, not the state.

If it becomes or is too deadly in the states opinion, I assure you it will be regulated whether we like it or not.

There is a big difference between dynamite and fire works... there is a big difference between drunk/stupid and responsible.
What are regulations ? shoot members here fight against the simple ones we have...

Report: 82 shot, 14 fatally, over holiday weekend in Chicago
the result of no regulations?

OK, I'll at least humor you, if you are sure you can handle it. Lets say, for the sake of argument, it had nothing to do with regulation.

Does that mean regulation in general can't be a good thing, under any circumstance? Of course it can and you are being silly bringing that into this.

I can't believe you brought murder into this.

You regulate these boards daily.....right?

Is it just me, I mean is this we don't like Kenny day, let's disagree no matter what?? lol!

Does he have problems around smokeless powder at all? Some types (so-called "double-base") are about half nitroglycerine.
No he doesn't have any problem with it.
I asked him when he got home about what happened when he had that reaction. This is rather embarrassing, please keep in mind he was young at the time and he's a redneck.
He and a friend went fishing with dynamite. They cut open a stick of dynamite. They packed the explosive in a baby food jar, put in the fuse cap, put a hole in the lid, and put the fuse cord through that. Lit the fuse and threw it in the creek. He said his hands and lower arms broke out in a rash.

Tell you what, this is clearly a heated topic and I've not had any real arguments on it, but apparently you guys have and it's a sore spot for ya' but I won't be your whipping boy. Go beat on someone who deserves it, like you local Gov or whatever the deep issue is here.

Bye

My intent was not to bring in murder but the heavy gun control in Chicago.
People need to grasp personal responsibility in many areas .. and not be relying on some government agency to protect them from themselves...

You take a discussion of government regulations personally ? guess that is your choice... No this is not a 'dont like Kenny day... my stance on regulations has been the same for a over 50 years..

It's not about murder, it's that gun regulations haven't kept murders from happening.
It's just like prohibition, it didn't stop people from drinking. It just started a black market and made criminals rich.
Many of us that are against more regulations don't want or need a big daddy, Uncle Sam, babysitting us.
You probably remember what it was like when the whole class was punished because the class bimbo couldn't control her/himself.

Yikes! So maybe he had a reaction to something in the creek. Lots of stuff to react to in open water.

I'm going back over the thread to see where/when this turned to gun control and to see what I said on that.

I don't think I so much as alluded to the fact gun regs will keep murders from happening but again, I'll look and if I don't find anything, I'll probably just leave it at that.

we had a day of fun a few years ago at camp blanding, it lasted one hour. the army trains killers right? we cant play football, it might cause injuries on these fun days. yet we can go to the block at home and play. I hate mandatory fun days. they have safe games to prevent injuries. the reason the fun day was stopped was due to the fact that one of my soldiers injured himself.

c-4 can be detonated by electronic means or by pressure. it will not burn to ignite in a fire. it has no wick.

I know. I was just making a loose association to try to make a point about burn rate. I'm pretty sure that black powder is classified as a low explosive, and smokeless powder as a flammable solid.

We made our own firecrackers when we were young. We'd wrap newspaper around a nail for the body of it and for the filler, we'd take the welding torches O2 pellets that you can buy and crushed them up and dissolved them in water and put it in the oven to drive the moisture out of it, then scrape up the residue and powderize it and mix it 50/50 (I think) with aluminum powder (stop leak) and fill them up. We used cannon fuse to set them off and they were about 80 or 90% reliable.

I don't know how I missed that on my calendar. This could be fun. :lol

Might as well make it a real blow out...be show to bring ya' gun and wear ya' "cold dead hands" T-shirt, and let's not forget that Don't Treaditude...:angry3:eek:angry3

Got some doozie games planned, right in line with this thread.:mischief

:biggrin2
