Hebrews 12:28-29Amplified Bible (AMP)
28 Let us therefore, receiving a kingdom that is firm and stable and cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe;

29 For our God [is indeed] a consuming fire.

Awe: an emotion in which dread, veneration, and wonder are variously mingled.

dread: greatly feared
veneration: reverence
pios: obedient spirit

I have confidence in my future home; I have confidence that nothing can overcome the kingdom that God has for me to dwell. Because of this, why would I not want to please Him through service and worship? Worship to me is fun!

Good morning Angel. I'd just like to add a thought to this.
1 Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 Jn 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

This falls right in line with the meaning of godly fear meaning reverence of Heb 12:28. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

Some bibles show that reverence below:
I use Bible Hub for many versions and just type in the Bible verse I want to compare.

Dear Sister Angel, I’ll just give an excerpt of a study by Faith Evans I have that says it so much better than I could. The full study is at http://www.gracegod.com/Study Books/Study of 1st John1.pdf

In 1 Jn 4:14 John says that he emphatically saw, along with his fellow apostles, that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. They beheld God in the Son, who was and is the expression of God. In 1 Jn 4:15 they confessed, agreed with God, as to the Deity of Jesus; and God dwelt in them and they in God. In verse two, the confession was in respect to His humanity. Here it implies surrender and obedience to the Life within, and not mere lip service. We allow Him to feel at home in these vessels. All believers, as we in 1 Jn 4:16 includes, all who have confessed that Jesus is the Son of God are experiencing God's love within - growing in knowledge and spiritual understanding. In verses 1 Jn 4:17-21, John enlarges upon our knowledge of God - His nature and our privilege of intimate communion with Him, plus the effect of that communion. When we have manifested His Divine love to others, we have a reason to have boldness in the day of judgment. We have the assurance because as he is, so are we in this world. Only in this way is our love made perfect. That Divine character is shown out in us as we identify ourselves with Him. In 1 Jn 4:18, John says, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear, or expels fear. As God's love is perfected in us, there is no room for fear of meeting Him and being disapproved ( I Cor 9:27; II Cor 5:9-12; Rom 8:15; Rom 14:10). He that feareth speaks of a habitual state of fearing (1 Jn 4:18). The reason that we divinely love is because he first loved us (1 Jn 4:19). The word “him” in this verse is not in the original manuscript. The apostle is not speaking of our showing love to God in response to His love to us, but that no exercise of Divine love is possible apart from God's love to us. We have to have something before it can be used, as is borne out in the following verses. If the evil character of our old nature is shown out toward our brothers and sisters in Christ and we say that we love God, we are a liar. However much we may know the Truth or doctrine of love, there is no real comprehension or appreciation of it if we refrain from showing love to our brother. It takes faith to love God whom we have not seen, and faith and love work together; so they are both from God and are Divine (Gal 5:6). That Divine love gives and serves - by love serve one another (Gal 5:13).

Hi Eugene!
This sentence really helped me understand:

"As God's love is perfected in us, there is no room for fear of meeting Him and being disapprove"

So I watch my actions, and do my best to live by the Spirit, that I may not let God down.

Is this correct?

Angel, my thought is that God is never let down by us, and it is His work in us that succeeds. Our recognition of that dispels fear to go boldly before Him for anything. We live in the realm of faith, and it is only professed when we see the evidence of it in our lives. When we come to realize that Rom 8:28 really means what it says, there can no longer be fear of approaching the lover of us.

Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (In our Father's eyes we do not sin either, as He sees only Jesus in us. 1 Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God (Jesus) keepeth himself (us, his body), and that wicked one (Satan) toucheth him not.)

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
