Hell is good and bad at the same time.....

The "Good" in my oppinion is all the most evil people you wouldnt want in heaven are there, i know that its bad to think that way but......if your in "Hell" you deserve it, just like 99.9% of people in Prison, and is like the prison for those people away from the good citizens

The "Bad" is that there is a good chance you'll end up there, your family members, friends all the people held dear to you, if you dont follow Gods word/laws, the worst thing about it is you will end up suffering for Eternity and Not Being near and rejected by your "Father"

I realize that God uses the Devil for this reason and this reason alone to weed out all of the fakes and evil doers......think about it, God "allows" the Devil to keep all the non-believers/fakes/evil doers in hell because he probably seen a benefit from it which i stated, and before you outright denie this notion :yes

REMEMBER THE STORY OF JOB!

C.S. Lewis wrote something along the lines that all those who are in Hell chose it. Its a question of choosing, while on Earth, "thy will be done" or "MY will be done." I'm not a big fan of Hell. If I were in charge, there'd just be purgatory. But, I'm not in charge. God created Hell for a reason, so that's why I accept it as a good thing, even though it strikes me as unbelievably harsh.

Heaven and Hell are both expressions of the love of God.

We sometimes get this idea in our mind of God holding us lovingly in the palm of His hand, yet simultaneously balancing us over the fire, waiting for us to slip up and be cast in. I think this view is harsh and flawed, and doesn't explain very well the relationship of man to God.

Imagine two men in two vehicles driving down two stretches of highway. Man 1 is in a heavily populated area and can see headlights coming and going every few seconds. There are plenty of illuminated displays and street lights and you can barely tell it's the middle of the night. Man 2 is in a rural area and rarely sees any traffic at all, relying solely on his headlights to guide him down the road. Man 1 finally decides to stop for gasoline and fills up the tank, gets back on the road and heads on out. Man 2, after a couple of hours, finally sees a gas station and gets out to fill up. The service station lights cause him to squint a little as his eyes adjust from darkness to light. He heads to the restroom, and the bright fluorescent tubes nearly blind the poor guy temporarily.

The light by its very nature is of course impartial. It doesn't shine any brighter or less bright in spite of the man who's eyes weren't adjusted to it -- it simply shines. That's what it does.

On the day of judgment, the love of God will pour out across this world. Those who know Him, have been near Him, will experience the love of God as light and warmth. Those who are in darkness will experience the love of God as a burning fire. It is not because God wants to punish them, it's because to the holy, fire burns away impurities, tempers them, makes them brighter and stronger, as steel in the forge -- to the unholy, they become as dust, their soul is as grass to the wildfire.

God's love remains the same. We must temper ourselves within that we may stand the fire of God's love, rather than He visit us in that day and we wither away in His presence.

Amen to that, Damascus! We might think of the Judgement Seat as a harsh and terrible thing, and be afraid of it, but we have no reason to fear it, and even a reason to rejoice in it. We have no reason to fear God's judgement, and the holy light which will shine out from the Judgement Seat will illuminate (for us) the Mercy Seat.

By the by... I don't want to seem like I'm picking holes in what you've said, K stunna, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean?

I think there's going to be plenty of people who lived absolutely awful lives on Earth, in heaven. I know that I'm going to be there, and my history is pretty shameful. It won't matter that there'll be bad people who've repented and been saved in heaven, because there won't be any trace of their old character or any of ours for that matter, "for our commonwealth has its existence in the heavens, from which also we await the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour, who shall transform our body of humiliation into conformity to his body of glory, according to the working of the power which he has even to subdue all things to himself." (Philippians 3 v 20-21). :) We'll all be in conformity to Christ, so there won't be any bad people in heaven, only Christ-like people.

The "Bad" is that there is a good chance you'll end up there, your family members, friends all the people held dear to you, if you dont follow Gods word/laws, the worst thing about it is you will end up suffering for Eternity and Not Being near and rejected by your "Father"

You can be assured that, if you've put your trust in Jesus, you won't end up in hell. And I think you can be reasonably sure whether or not your family and friends know Christ as their Saviour too. We're not under bondage to the law, we're under grace, so even though we sometimes don't follow God's word and law, we stumble, Jesus is in heaven, making intercession for us constantly so that God doesn't look on our sins, He looks on the work of Christ instead. I think it's right to say that no-one how truly knows God as Father will have a lost eternity. :)

Sorry if that was a superfluous ramble! I just feel that it's important to get these things clear if there's any doubt at all surrounding them in anyone's mind.

I'm truly baffled sometimes by the number of Christians online who sincerely believe their personalities will be improved by the acquisition of a new body. And it's a bit humorous too because their belief justifies a Twinkie defense. In other words; while the lost are saying the Devil made them do it; some of the Lord's people are saying their body made them do it. (chuckle)

So I have to ask: What about the interim? What's to prevent deceased Christians from being jerks in the afterlife while they're waiting for a new body?

Incidentally, the Twinkie defense implies that people in hell are now 100% sinless since they parted company with their human body when they crossed over to the other side.

Is this the hell that is in the paintings by historic artists who belong to a church that wanted people to give as much money as possible to the church to keep their loved ones out of hell? They needed the fire and brimstone images for it to work

The Lord's cross is far more reliable than currency.

†. John 3:14-17 . . As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness (Num 21:4-9) even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He donated His only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be spared.
<o:p> </o:p>
†. John 5:24 . . I tell you the truth: whoever hears my word, and believes Him who sent me, has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
<o:p> </o:p>
†. 1Pet 1:18-19 . .You know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

LMAO! i was thinking the same exact thing, your personality wont change and you will still be you but in heaven you wont have that bad personality because most of that would be coming from the Devils influence and in heaven you will only be influenced by good and not evil which will most likely improve your personality a lot, not just "Automatically wipe the bad personality away", just most of it that was stemmed from a bad mood all the time [Which you wont have in heaven cause Gods presence will keep everyone happy 24/7] and Satan and his demons...... :D

I think Scripture is perfectly clear about this: when we're in heaven, we'll be conformed to Christ. It's not just the matter of a new body, it's a new being. No trace of the old will exist, otherwise we couldn't possibly be before God, who won't tolerate anything of the old nature in His presence. We are sons before God as Christ is the Son, perfected in Him. To suggest that our old, flawed human personalities won't be entirely done away with is to suggest that God would accept something that's sub-standard and not conformed to His ideal.

I agree that the 'Twinkie' defence, as you describe it, doesn't make any sense either. Those who haven't accepted Christ as their Saviour won't be renewed, and their sins (which will be related at the Judgement Seat) will remain attached to them for all eternity, because they're under judgement for those sins.

LMAO! i was thinking the same exact thing, your personality wont change and you will still be you but in heaven you wont have that bad personality because most of that would be coming from the Devils influence and in heaven you will only be influenced by good and not evil which will most likely improve your personality a lot, not just "Automatically wipe the bad personality away", just most of it that was stemmed from a bad mood all the time [Which you wont have in heaven cause Gods presence will keep everyone happy 24/7] and Satan and his demons...... :D

I'm afraid that couldn't be further from the truth... when we're in heaven, we'll be completely unrecognisable. Nothing of the flesh will remain. Christ died in order that everything of the old race of Adam might be done away with. We walk here in newness of life, with the Holy Spirit working in us to moderate our actions and keep us from sin, but that's not God's ideal. We're not perfect, so some change must take place. That change is that we're to be conformed to God's ideal, which is Christ, the perfect Man. Nothing less than a Christ-like state will be acceptable in heaven. We shall be like Christ, and in heaven we'll be praising God constantly, as Christ leads the praise to Him. It's a realm of holy bliss, into which no imperfection could possibly enter.

Our new bodies won't just be free from sin, they'll be free from everything that characterises us naturally. We'll all be identical. The idea that such thing as personality could possibly exist is definitely an error. God will know each of us individually, but there'll be no diversity among us. We will exist purely as worshippers of God, and that will be our activity for evermore. That may not sound entirely appealing to some Christians who haven't grasped the full import of heavenly bliss, but it is the most appealing way to spend eternity that there possibly could be. We will exist in a state of peaceful activity, blissful worship.

Anyway. My point is that in heaven, there won't be anything left of the 'present' us, everything about us will be God's workmanship.

†. Jer 13:23a . . Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots?

Answer: No.
<o:p> </o:p>
†. Jer 13:23b . . Then you also can do good who are accustomed to doing evil.
<o:p> </o:p>
When I was a young man; thoughts like Jer 13:23 often crossed my mind; even before I read the Bible one time for myself. I figured: okay, if today I reform and become a God-fearing man, and will-powered myself into keeping all the commandments; and somehow managed to make it to heaven; I seriously doubt I could keep it up for eternity— maybe for the rest of my life; but certainly not forever. It would only be a matter of time before I fell off the wagon and showed my true colors. and then God would be forced to evict me. I felt pretty discouraged about that; and despaired of ever making it to heaven.
<o:p> </o:p>
But then a man came along and introduced me to the wording of the second birth about which the Lord spoke at John 3:3-8. And he also introduced me to the wording of the new covenant.
<o:p> </o:p>
†. Ezk 36:24-28 . . I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit into you: I will remove the heart of stone from your body and give you a tender heart; and I will put My Spirit into you. Thus I will cause you to follow My laws and faithfully to observe My rules.
<o:p> </o:p>
So then, between the second birth and the new covenant; there is just no way I will slip up and get myself evicted from the kingdom of God. Talk about win-win!
