Hi,

My name is Nigel and I am a 37-yo Christian man with a wonderful wife and 3 kids. We live in the Pacific Northwest and try to maintain connections in our local community, which can be hard at times as I'm sure all of you other parents know! LOL kids can eat up a lot of your time and sometimes it seems that all I end up doing for weeks is coming home from work, eating dinner, and tucking the kids in to bed. There are not a lot of other Christians where we live and sometimes I feel kind of isolated, as I know my wife does also, because some of our friends don't agree with our viewpoints on certain things. We are not active in the local church at this time, mostly just because it didn't feel like a very good fit for us even though there are wonderful people there.

Anyway my wife and I have had soem troubles lately and I thought I would look for some objective advice from a Christian community. I don't want to muddy up the introduction forum with heavy stuff so I'll start another thread.

Thanks & God bless!

-Nigel

Hello, Nigel:

I am NYEngineer. My name is Wes Bacon and I'm writing from Rochester, NY. I'm 55 and my children are all grown and out of the house.

This evening, my oldest and youngest (ages 25 and 20) were here for a visit with their favorite friends. It is wonderful to be able to spend time with them because they all live out of state and I don't get to see them very often.

I can understand the work-home-eat-bed routine. It was that way with us for a long time. But as you have heard so many times, they grow up fast and are gone.

So, the most important things you can do are (in roughly this order) Establish and maintain your heart relationship with God. Set your priority on your relationship with your wife next and your children right after that. See family.org (the Focus on the Family web site) for good ideas. Be blessed!

Welcome to 123 Nigel,

A quick browse of the forums will show you that you will find a lot of advice on everything so I pray that you find some good advice and good fellowship. As for me, I'm 33, married, and even with no kids I feel the busyness of the days. I live in South-Western Alberta, Canada, about a 4-5 hour drive from Montana and Idaho.

And welcome to you too, Wes, the NYEngineer. :)

Welcome Nigel. There are many ears here to listen and more than just a few folks with opinions. :D Express yourself...
