My name is Kevin, I'm married to my wonderful wife Kelli, and we have three children: Sarah, Jonathan, and Jacob. We have been married for almost 6 years. So, my screen name was one I came up with many years ago soon after our first child, Sarah, was born. KevKelSar - simply the first three letters of our first names.
I've been trying to find another Christian forum to join ever since the previous one of which I was a part closed down. For those wondering, it was a Barlow Girls fan forum. After looking around at various forums, I have finally decided to sign up with this one and see how it goes.
I want to be open and honest with everyone upfront. I am LDS (more commonly known as "Mormon") and have hours upon hours upon hours of discussions with those of other beliefs. I tend to see myself as a much more open minded person than others as I seek to understand what others believe. No necessarily to accept what they believe, but to understand them. Too many misunderstandings/contentions/bad feelings stem from simply not understanding something. And we generally fear that which we don't understand.
I can promise you that at some point in all the discussions I've had, I have heard every single "proof" that we as LDS are not Christians or that our doctrine is "of the devil" and whatnot. So, feel free to ask me any questions. I just ask that you be willing to read and seek to understand the answers; whether you believe it or not.
A bit more of a background for me. I was born into a family and raised LDS. However, once I became a teenager I rebelled and turned away from the LDS Church completely. During that time, I was a huge proponent of proving to those who were LDS of the "error" of their ways. Much to my dismay (currently), I was successful in convincing many of my friends to lead lives away from God.
Around my Junior/Senior year in High School, God hit me over the head with a spiritual sledgehammer to let me know I was not leading a life He would have me lead. So, I began studying religions in general. This involved reading the Bible, of course. At the same time, I felt I should also give the Book of Mormon a chance. Without getting into too many details of some very personal experiences with God: one day I knew that the LDS Church was full of garbage and an outright lie, the next I knew that everything they taught to be of God.
Anyway, probably more information than any of you need or want to know. I look forward to getting to know may of you here! God Bless!
