Hi. My name is Rebecca. My handle, shmrmommy, stands for Shannon, Hannah, Morgan, and Ronan's mommy. These are my kids' names. Shannon is 5, Hannah and Morgan are 3 year old twins, and Ronan is due August 2. I have been married for 7 1/2 years to a wonderful guy, and I live in east TN. I am currently going through something of a crisis about my faith. I posted a long thing about this in the general discussion category. I think I was saved when I was 16, but I'm not really sure. My other post explains this in more detail. I am joining this forum because I feel like I could benefit from having other Christians to talk to about all this. I do belong to a church in my area, and have some friends there, but this is something I have a hard time talking about in person. It doesn't even make a lot of sense to me, really, so I have a hard time explaining it to other people. If you think you could offer me some advice about this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

shmrmommy:

Hi, how are you doing?

If I may comment, I can't do the Holy Spirit's work and give an assurance that is properly His work in the believer's heart but I can point you to the Scriptures, which is where the believing sinner, trusting in the Lord Jesus, should look.

For example, Paul to the Romans in chapter 8 says:

For I am pesuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Romans 8.38-39)

If you read the whole chapter, in fact, it may be very helpful.

You know, I think your earrings — interestingly enough — provide a great example of the true believer's standing in Christ. If the clasps have been attached firmly behind your two holes - or however many you have - your earrings are there firmly: in good weather, in bad weather; when you feel happy, or when you feel sad; when you are still, or when you are moving around. If you swing your head the rings may swing around too, but they are still attached there in the same place, because the clasps firmly keep them there. All sorts of examples can be given, and each example may have its imperfections, but this may be a practical, everyday example which 'preaches' well.

Keep trusting prayerfully in the Scriptures.
