[__ Prayer __] Help Feed the Orphans in Kenya

Dear Friends:

I am broadening my horizons and have adopted some orphans in Kenya. There are 79 children. They get one meal a day of cabbage and rice. Sometimes maize. My goal is to raise enough money to get them two meals a day and more variety. You are also free to sponsor an orphan that you can get to know personally.

$50 will buy enough food to feed 20 orphans for a week. I sponsor Lowell who I gave the name of my brother who died. Edward Lowell is now 4 and his mother died in childbirth. A week later his father was killed in a motorcycle accident.

Here is the link if you want to help. I am also working with the women in the village to build their self-esteem and become closer to our Lord Jesus Christ. All of these women and the orphans are Christians and need our help. Even in the middle of this epidemic is it important to reach out. As an experiment, I tried to eat cabbage and rice for three days and got sick. I turned off my television to see what it was like. I am now more appreciate of my creature comforts. I was talking to a friends about why no one offered to help my orphans in Kenya. She said one reason is that Kenya has a reputation for running scams on Americans.

Therefore, I wanted to say that I have vetted this group. I corresponded with Pastor John for weeks before I agreed to help him with his women's' group. He never asked me for anything for the orphans. I named the women's group the Christian Women's Union and created a website for them.

One day, I got a picture of the women weaving baskets. I asked John about it and he said they sold them at the market to make money to feed the orphans. Each of them kept from 5-10 orphans in their house and John brought them food.

I told John that in America this would be foster care and that the government would help them. He told me that they have no social welfare in Kenya.

That is when I agree to spread the word about his need for food for his 79 orphans.

This is a bad time to ask for money, but money for food in African goes a long way.

P.S. This is the child I sponsor. His name is Lowell and I gave him my brother's name so now he is Edward Lowell. My goal is to feed him, clothe him and then send him to school so he can write me a letter. If you want to care for a child, we can send you pictures so you can choose.
