As an active Christian Psychologist for the past 30+ years, I must say, that once the year 2000 came around, I have experienced more "basket cases" than ever before. Both my Son Skip and I have been involved in spiritual warfare deliverance, and for the past 4+ years have noticed a rise in demonic activity among Christians and non-believers. (the end is near)

It's getting harder to distinguish between failing bodies and minds because the enemy of our souls knows his time is short and is trapping as many souls as he can, or the effect of Adamic sin as we approach 7,000 years is crippling God's Children in mind and body. There are diseases today that I never heard of 25 years ago.

I'm not the only Psychologist who has a duel role of spiritual warfare and classic psychology. A decision between the two is getting harder and harder to distinguish. I say the preceding to inform you, my friends, of the need to find a solution whereas God the Holy Spirit can be released from our ignorance (God says "My people perish because of lack of knowledge) to supernaturally heal those who cry out to our Heavenly Father, "Help Lord, I'm hurting".

Man's Trouble.
Anxiety - Depression - Social Awkwardness - Childhood Abuse Recovery - Bad Marriage - Cancer - Discouragement - Bi Polar - ADHD and so on. This is just a partial list of what invades our circle of influence.

Man's Example.
Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
I was taught that for every negative, search for a positive. Good psychology huh?

1Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Man's Remedy.
Psalm 50:14 Offer (sacrifice) unto God (Elohim) thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High (If you promise to do something for God, DO IT).
50:15 And call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and (Most important) thou shalt glorify Me.

1Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

This is page 1. I will continue with page 2 very soon.

Now we must consider how to climb out of the pit or hole that traps us into seeing only our desperation instead of being rescued by Jesus and walking in His joy and gladness.

God our Abba Father has determined before hand how to rescue His Child (you) from being stuck in the prison of despair. How you ask? I will list a multitude of suggestions from the Word of God, and first and foremost IS the Word of God....Matthew 4:4 "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" ESV

Please notice a fact about every Christian. "Man shall not live by bread alone." Now, the unsaved do live by bread alone, but the Christian is designed by God to LIVE by something else, and that is the Scriptures, the Word of God.

There is a spiritual war raging in the Christian Churches and in Christian folk. Satan, and his forces of evil have a favorite weapon. That very deadly weapon is to keep the Child of God from reading/studying the Word of God. Why? Because of this....Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." ESV

If the enemy of our souls can keep us from studying God's Word, he can keep us weak spiritually, and we will perish from all that God has for us. Are you depressed? are you discouraged? Do you continually rehearse in your mind your woes? Do you pray, "help Lord, I'm hurting" and your prayers bring no help at all? Do you think "what's the use of praying?"

The answer is, because you're not studying the Word of God. O my friends, you have to FORCE yourself to open up your Bible and start fellow shipping with with Jesus and the Holy Spirit in the Word of God. What do I recommend? Get to know Jesus Who died for you!! First study Matthew, then Mark, and Luke and John. James is a good study.

Finally, is there any way out of my situation other than the Bible? NO, NO, and NO!!! The prayer that God is sure to answer is....
1John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
5:15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him
." ESV

Second to studying the Word of God is to offer to Almighty God and His Son a sacrifice. You say, "I thought sacrifices were no longer required in the New Covenant? You're almost right. There is one sacrifice that breaks depression and discouragement and that is....

Psalm 50:14 Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me."....There you go! The sacrifice of thanksgiving. Do you want God to deliver you from your trouble? When you are in trouble, it's a sacrifice to thank God, right? It sure is. Break out of your prison of despair by thanking God for what you do have. Start with thanking Him for the forgiveness of your sins, and that you are saved and headed for the promised land, the New Jerusalem to live with Jesus for eternity.

Ok, does what I've just instructed really work? As God Himself is my witness and judgment, Yes it does! I entered Bible College to study for being a Pastor of Jesus' Churches and to be a Christian Psychologist. Immediately, I was hit by migraine headaches and what the doctors called, "active hypoglycemia". I was never hit by these physical ailments until I decided to serve my Lord Jesus Christ and to train for His calling on my life.

After graduation from College, I never was without a physical trial all the way up to today. I've had two failed spine surgeries, both my hips replaced, two strokes, one heart attack, serious pneumonia with congestable heart failure, salmonella food poisoning that almost killed me. and a host of other strange happenings against my life.

What do I think is the only way that I'm still alive? It's because of my relationship with my Master Jesus, daily forgiveness of my sins, and at least two hour's each day studying God's Word, and reading/studying daily devotions from men of God of whom I trust. In order to survive from depression and discouragement over my physical ailments, I feed on the Word of God for my survival. And, I recommend the same of my Brothers and Sisters.

God bless you all....I'll be happy to answer any question that you might have.

Question? Is spritiual wickedness in high places (powerful fallen angels of government) causing the President to sin against his own will (Eph. 6:12)? Do you think that sin has made the President unstable (James 1:8)?

If I read between the lines you just wrote, I detect a disappointment in President Trump's agenda. I'm with you my beloved Sister. From the big talk before he was elected, and his performance now, I pray that God will intervene and set him straight.

Now, your question. Both of your biblical quotes are probably true. Our President puts on a good show with his prayer breakfasts and spiritual folk around him, but if in private, he does not study God's Word and pray that God would lead him in his decisions, then he is a great big target for the forces of evil to bring an evil report on our Great God, and His Son Christ Jesus.

I try and pray for President Trump every morning. I prayed for him to seek God's wisdom this morning as well for his cabinet. Somehow, I wish the members of CF.net would all pray for our President.

So do I. As much as disapproved of Obama, I prayed for him but there is such a hateful spite for this President, as if they want another Civil War.

Thank you brother, for your faithful service to God's people, to help restore their lives and families.

God bless you.

In your work with people who are ADHD, do you find that they have used adderall for an extensive period of time?

Do you believe this is a source of the problem?

Thanks, JLB

I'll have to get back to you on the ADHD. I'll check my notes and see if I have some info on that. I have counseled at least a half a dozen ADD & ADHD clients.

Thank you for your kind words, coming from you, it means a lot to me and our Lord working thru me. All glory to Him. The older I get, the more I love Him and need Him.

Thanks, JLB

If I were to play the role of Christian psychologist rather than Christian lawyer, the verse framed above my desk would be "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NASB).

I am the adult child of two alcoholic parents who managed to kill their livers before I was 21. The ACOA movement fosters a "victim" mentality. Oh, poor me, boo-hoo, look at the hand life dealt me. You really can't blame me for anything I say or do.

If I bought into this, I could float through life, blaming every failing of mine on my alcoholic parents.

Do I bear scars? Certainly. But even as a child who didn't know Jesus from the Tooth Fairy, I had a strong sense that I was protected by Someone and that I would emerge from the chaos intact. Today, 60+ years later, I view my pathetic parents and my traumatic childhood as absolutely, positively a blessing. I grieve for and pray for my parents (my father prayed with me to accept Christ shortly before he died), but I rejoice and give thanks for the hand life dealt me.

It was precisely because of the hand life dealt me that I was receptive to the gospel. Without those trials and hurts, I might well have laughed at the gospel like most of my classmates. For the past 47 years, I have truly been able to give thanks and rejoice in what others might perceive as hurts, and it is this transformation in attitude that I believe has made all the difference in my emotional, psychological and spiritual health.

Hello Runner. It certainly is a rich blessing for me to hear that you, a Lawyer has allowed the Son of God, Jesus, to enter your life thru the Gospel. Bravo my friend and Brother. Wow! Alcoholic Parents. The card's, so to speak, were stacked against you to entertain the Gospel, let alone accepting it's life changing power to be born again. Again I say Bravo!

I admire your decision, as a professional Counselor of the laws of our land. Wow, A born again Lawyer, I wish I knew of one in my Town. I especially liked what you said here....

(The red accent is mine)

John 17:6 "I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word." So, I see you capitalized Someone, and you're right, that Someone was Abba Father protecting you until you could enter His great Family and the protection and great future that is bestowed on all children of God thru Christ Jesus.

I pray that your testimony might cause someone to identify with your struggles and follow the pathway that you followed and become your Gospel Brother or Sister....May God bless you and yours with Grace and Peace.

I am pleased to know another similar to my childhood up-bringing that survived and has fond the peace the LORD gives. All three of my parents, Father, Mother and Dad, my stepfather, were Alcoholics, mom and dad were Functioning where as my father was not.

The last of my childhood, from 10 until 17, when I enlisted, mom and dad lived in an open marriage and cohabited with whoever they pleased and the incest was unbelievable. But with Jesus, the Saviour I denied until I was forty-five there is such healing.

I never blamed anyone for my state of mind, rather I felt I was in control as I moved through all the same mistakes I had seen modeled so up front and personally.

JESUS IS VERY FORGIVING

Chopper were you taught violence comes out of fear. Ultimately that is where violence stems from, the sin nature had in it everything to create an atmosphere of dysfunction. From governments, which are necessary, to relationships. All having forms of dysfunction. Point being we have a fall, but something greater comes out of this dysfunction.
The Father gets what He wants and planned before He created anything, children, Eph. 1:4. Just like unto His only Son, by the one Son in every believer. We need a mind to go along with the new birth, as you know this world can swallow up a believer as well as a non believer.
Understanding the glory of God, which is the plan of God to birth His very own offspring, allows the believer to live free in this world and be at peace as God intended. It doesn't make them exempt from what ill call the C and S gang, circumstances and situations. It absolutely makes a difference in the way we handle them and view the world.
Paul had trouble and prayed three times to be delivered, finally the Lord spoke to him and said "my grace is sufficient."
So as you can see we must know something about Grace, Grace is not something we can glean over and hope it works.
Grace is accessed, the believer now has access to the grace of God, Romans 5:2.

Yes sir, every day that goes by I love Him more, and see how desperate I am for His presence and grace and mercy.

God is good, and His mercy endures forever!
