help with very doubtful husband

My husband was raised in a very christian and overly protective home, his father was a pastor, and he says he was saved when he was young. For the past year or two, my husband has moved away frm God, and does not even know if he actually believes that God is who he says he is in his word. Today we were ahveing a conversation, and my husband told me that he does not feel God and has searched and searched his whole life to feel God, and it has never happened. He says that he cannot believe in the bible because it does not make sense to him that if he has genuinely searched for God, that he would not give him a change of heart, which he says he has never had. He said to me today " There are people who actually convince themselves that thngs are true, people believe other religions just as much as christians believe in the bible, they even believe it so much that they will sacrifice their lives." I was speechless at this point. Just wondering what makes you believe that the bible is the truly inspired word of God?

It does sound as if your husband, for all his Christian background, has never experienced the Holy Spirit in his life. Those with the Spirit tend to "get" the bible, those without don't.

I'm not sure that there is anything you can do for your husband except pray. Are you a Christian...if so, what is your own experience with God's Spirit and God's word?

I agree with handy as I do not believe he has ever experienced the infilling of the Holy Spirit. It sounds like he has only given lip service as being saved as possibly appeasing his father, but never truly gave his heart to the Lord. It's by faith in Christ Jesus we believe as by Gods grace we are saved. Many search with the carnal (fleshly) mind for those things of Gods word, but can not comprehend or understand without the Holy Spirit revealing truth to us. I would suggest the both of you to reconfirm your faith in Christ as you both give Him your whole heart and ask the Holy Spirit to indwell you both and open your Spiritual eyes for understanding that which is written in the word of God and not only read it, but apply it to your lives. It's at the foot of the cross you will look up and see the face of God.
