Okay so I was lying in bed last night trying to hear God and be in tune with him. I had my eyes shut and was trying to picture him in front of me in my mind. All the sudden I got scared and had fear. I had a picture of Jesus in my mind and all of a sudden it he grew long teeth and lunged at me!!!! I was so frightened to even TRY to do this again and hear from him. Every time I tried I had bad thoughts and scary faces. It made me feel like I was all alone. I prayed that they go away in the name of Jesus... (like 5 times) it kept happening. But i kept trying to feel/hear God. finally after a few minutes my mind was blank and I just had darkness but I was not trying to picture God just listening and waiting to see him. WHAT is going on? I have never even tried this before but I really want to hear/see God and of visions from him. I don't want to stop but I am a little scared to try it again because of the bad things that i saw. what does this mean and how do i stop it!!!

It's sounds demonic, you have to rebuke in Jesus name. Sometimes there are things in our life that hender us from getting closer to God.

If you want a stronger relationship with the Lord pray, read his word and let the Holy Spirit lead you on his terms.

I know a man who never married because he wanted to take care of his parents. His siblings got married and all moved off. His dad died and later his mom. By this time he too was elderly. He came by and I could tell he was very distraught. We talked for awhile about his mom. He told me how hard it was to see all her things around the house and how lonely it has been without her. I told him that when he can look at her things and smile he will know that the healing process has started. The Lord lead me to tell him about some visions that I've had that are not for the faint of heart. He said I am so glad you told me cause last night I had the ugliest scariest face right in my face and I don't ever want to see it again. He admitted that he was thinking about killing his self. I told him not to let them steal his glory by pushing him over the edge. Before he left I invited him to Church and told him to come by or call anytime he needed to talk. He stopped by a few months later and said that he started going to a Church in his home town. He said he gave his life to the Lord after many years of thinking that he was saved.

There are other people who have told me of similar experiences.

Rebuke any bad thoughts, live as close as you can, seek him and the spiritual gifts in all humbleness. Remember it's his will not ours.

In Christ Jesus!

Katylady, I'm glad you wrote in. This thing of trying to get in tune with God isn't a good way to have fellowship with the Lord. When we read the Bible, God works in our lives and hearts, and He uses that to bring us closer to Him. I don't know if you were trying to induce a vision or some deep experience, but it sounds like you meant well. However, Jesus said that they that worship God have to do so in spirit and in truth.

You're looking for a good thing. You'll find it in the Word of God, not in trances and visions.

I appreciate your zeal for wanting to be deeper with God, but seeking after a vision is not the right way. If God wants to give you a vision...He will just do it.
It's better just to read the Word and be grounded in it.
Visions and prophecies are for those that are exercised to discern, not novices in any way (no insult intended). Seeking them without God actually giving them first can be dangerous.
What you are talking about is actually prophecy...and not all are prophets. I don't say that to you to dishearten you. I'm only saying God chooses to anoint those that HE wants to anoint.
1Co 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
1Co 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
1Co 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
(the implication is that all do not have these gifts.)
1Co 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
By the way God is invisible. To have a picture of Christ in your mind is one thing...but no man has seen the Father...but Christ...not even the Apostles. (the Father is Spirit...the same Spirit that dwelt in Christ).
In fact if you did see the Father...you would probably be dead. No man can see Him and live...as Moses was told.
Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
1Ti 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Heb 11:27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
2Co 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
