I appreciate your zeal for wanting to be deeper with God, but seeking after a vision is not the right way. If God wants to give you a vision...He will just do it.
It's better just to read the Word and be grounded in it.
Visions and prophecies are for those that are exercised to discern, not novices in any way (no insult intended). Seeking them without God actually giving them first can be dangerous.
What you are talking about is actually prophecy...and not all are prophets. I don't say that to you to dishearten you. I'm only saying God chooses to anoint those that HE wants to anoint.
1Co 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
1Co 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
1Co 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
(the implication is that all do not have these gifts.)
1Co 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
By the way God is invisible. To have a picture of Christ in your mind is one thing...but no man has seen the Father...but Christ...not even the Apostles. (the Father is Spirit...the same Spirit that dwelt in Christ).
In fact if you did see the Father...you would probably be dead. No man can see Him and live...as Moses was told.
Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
1Ti 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Heb 11:27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
2Co 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
