Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums and look forward to chatting with you. I'm an atheist student living overseas and have started at a (secular) college that boasts its very own chapel (not only that, but it's a few hundred years old). It's been interesting to encounter Christianity on a daily basis (my atheist principles and beliefs haven't changed) and I thought I'd join the forums to get a better sense of the Christian community.

Welcome to the Christian Forums. I've noticed that whenever an atheist joins a Christian forum, they always see a need to mention about being an atheist. Of course, as they debate Bible truths, it's always apparent that they are atheist. We can never hide our true selves for very long--like those who pretend to be Christians. There are far more pretenders than there are real Christians. Hopefully, there are no pretenders here.

Sounds like a secular college with its own chapel for students. Interesting.

Hi Bonnie,
It's a secular school-- non Christian-- but it does have a chapel and a chaplain. The chapel is very old and is a traditional part of the school. There are a few Christian traditions (a latin grace is said before certain formal dinners, but not regular meals) and there is never public prayer. I have only heard one or two discussions even tangentially related to faith (and that was between two philosophy/theology students). I have no idea what the religious breakdown is amongst the students, as everyone is pretty quiet about their faith (or lack thereof). I only know one so far who is openly Christian.

I'm so glad that you have come to our forum, friend! It seems that most atheists would avoid forums like this and run their mouths about how "mean" God is and how "stupid" Christians are, but I love you already, and not just because your nice. That's what we Christians call Christ's love, when we pro-actively, sincerely love others without a reason.
