high school reunion

Mine isn't until 2015 for my 5 year reunion but I was just wondering if it's a godly thing to go to. I mean, isn't it just about showing off and bragging about what you have and trying to put others down? Although, it is showing off your blessings from God.

It could also be about meeting people again, reviving old friendships, and sharing stories of life. It's what you make of it. Whether or not people can put you down depends a lot on whether you allow them to do so. If your heart knows no envy you can't be put down by someone else's success in life.

(Well I didn't go to my reunions for the same reasons you mentionned. :sad)

I haven't gone to any of my high school reunions. The first few because I was still in touch with my friends. But, my 30 year reunion was a couple of years ago and I would have really liked to have gone, because now I live a long way from there and would like to catch up with folks face to face, rather just on Facebook.

Often it can depend on what sort of school it was, and what sort of event it is going to be.

If it was a Christian school, then presumably not too many corks will be popped.

I went to the margins of a reunion some years ago with my wife; we attended a guided tour and an historical talk: both interesting.

The partying which happened later, we skipped.

It doesn't have to be. It could be about telling everyone what Christ has been doing in your life. It is what you make it.

Most of my school friends are dead now. I didn't bother to go to reunions and now I have some regrets.

Claudya:

I guess it's all about people rather than status.

I haven't gone to any of mine to date, mostly 'cause I didn't like them in High School, why would I like them now? :P

My sister went to her .. 20 year reunion ... and she said it was all about who had the better house and who looked best in their little black dresses and who had the more successful partner on their arm.

...and it can also involve comparing the tattoos that former classmates have subsequently accumulated.

Anyway, such occasions begs the Biblical question: 'What is your life?' (James 1.14)

But, re. 'little black dresses', the simple miniskirt/minidress (because it's so versatile, I guess) is certainly very fashionable again, yes.

Blessings.
