As for "trying to get into Christianity"... it's pretty simple. You either believe in Jesus Christ and look to Him for the forgiveness of your sins or you don't. If you do, you're as "into Christianity" as anybody is going to get.

If you've already asked the Lord to forgive those sins you were a part of, you might as well forget them, because He has! :yes

More than being good (which won't save; 'all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God' Romans 3.23), we need to know the Savior Himself. It's the Savior that saves, not our being good. In the blessed person of the Lord Jesus we have a loving Savior, Who, because He died at the Cross in the place of sinners, will fully save all those who believe in and trust in Him:

'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' John 3.16.

Sometimes our learning to forgive ourselves is the problem and that's where faith comes in. God said it, we must believe it and go forward with our lives as though pure as He has made us.
