His faith in you

a lad wanted to hear an angel sing
he looked to heaven
asked why there's no hope here?
but a child looked and asked
where are you looking?

for hope lies within the silent heart
it springs, where it looks dark
but in the end, it can be found anywhere you look
it's hidden in your heart

the older child didn't understand
why then was there so much pain?
why were the spells of the foolish raining down
faith may be evidence of things not hoped for, but
how come there's no singing

I feel so alone, why live in such a place,
why give what I can use for myself
why, when it seems no one else cares
when people are so selfish
I ask again, where's hope?
because I've searched, I've gone back and forth
in my mind, soul
but nothing there, nothing seen, nothing felt

the child answered again, and said it's everywhere you look
in him, the child who ran away
the girl theif who seemed to lose faith
look deep within the heart for the answers
look beyond their falters
for within, lies so much good
but will they let it all go
will they listen to the soul
will they try to fill in the hole
they can be filled, I believe it so,
do you young lad, do you have hope?

the young man watched two lovers embrace
watched a drunked wander the streets
heard the car alarm sound from a car theft
instead of angels, heard the cop car's siren sing
watched an ambulance whine on glass
as he watched the bystander of an accident cry
remembered his only friend's betrayal, their fight
that he didn't lift a finger, but still felt the strife
and asked himself again, where is this hope

the child said, I won't stand by
to just watch or hear the cries
I won't stand by, and watch my brothers and sisters die
but the beautiful thing is, Christ already made the way
and as I walk the streets, I can make a difference by saying
have some hope
you can make a difference if you try
if you believe there is life after death, if you walk and believe
if you see, the hope

as I look into their eyes
I can see God's beautiful design
deep within the heart, there's so much to give
like a flower in the winter, yet to bloom
but it will, I know it, as the sun shines

the young man looked within his heart,
couldn't unravel the mystery
where could he go, where could he be, to feel alive, freed
from the shackles that weighed him so
couldn't do it by himself
looked within, asked God for help
and he felt a fresh wind of hope

he looked to the child, said he was right,
child said no, not so
but God was right about you, He said to have hope
now you've seen what He sees, now you know
what was done for you can be done for them
now go forth, have faith in Him
that as you go forth, you see what God sees in them
that as you walk, they see Him
and no, you're right, there's not only hope, for He truly knows
has faith beyond circumstance, love, grace, and a home

the seed was nurtured, the young lad became witness
had faith in those that had none in themselves
but knew someone that knew better
introduced Him by being himself
not just hope, but faith beyond comprehension
not saying a word, but teaching his lesson

as the accident victim prayed for an answer
as the theif seeked a true escape
as the lovers became lovers of his will
as they came to love Him, accept His ways

thanks to a young lad, who they asked where's some hope
his reply, don't thank me but Him, that
there's something greater than mere hope,
through him, there's something greater, his faith,

--his love, for you
