His Son
In Luke 1:28 an angel spoke to Mary telling her to, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women.â€Â
And in verse 29 we see that Mary was troubled.
And yes, we have been there and possibly some have been there recently and even possibly at this very moment.
Troubled because an angel spoke to you, or forbid God Himself speak to some, and yes, how scary for some if God Himself spoke to them.
As a child of God, you are blessed so put away the fear and the selfishness and accept who you are, not what you want to be and stop looking for better through the world.
Mary could have responded the same way many respond when God calls. She could have ran and done her own thing and that would have been the end of, Mary gave birth
But Mary stood and accepted who she was through God and she conceived in her womb and brought forth a Son, and His name was Jesus.
Now Mary could have acted many different ways, but she stayed with God’s plan. She carried her baby boy full term, the baby who was born from her whose name is Jesus. Jesus, God’s only Son, and Mary, the one who God chose to give birth to Jesus, now think about that and wonder.
Was she nervous to the point that she walked around slowly for fear of falling, and her diet, what was it like?
Did she dream different dreams than other expecting mothers would?
Then the day arrived and baby Jesus was born and the excitement and thrill of a newborn. Mary could have said, “That’s right, I gave birth to God’s Son,†or she could have said, “Touch Him and I will send angels to remove your hands.â€Â
I believe that she acted accordingly and just cherished her new baby boy.
And even with that I wonder, did she think about what Jesus might encounter? Did she wonder if she was up to the challenge of raising a Child such as Jesus?
Was she torn between her family and her Son?
How long was the labor, and was she in any pain?
Who helped to deliver Jesus into the world?
Some of these questions are easy to answer while others make you think.
And as we go through life, we face daily different challenges that help strengthen us in out walk with God.
All we have to do is accept what God has to offer.
Some are looking for the flashy signs and shiny prizes, but God gives something much more powerful and useful; His Mighty Love.
Yes, God’s Mighty Love, if we just accept His Mighty Love, then our lives would be so much easier.
But we get in a hurry and overlook things or get too picky and don’t accept something because we miss the true meaning of what it truly shows.
Mary could have worried and ran and hid herself and Jesus, but she went on and so should we.
Yes, many others went on and yes, many feared at first. Then again, don’t we all to a point? And after Jesus was born, many thoughts could have raced through Mary’s mind, but she accepted what she was given from our Father God.
And still questions could be asked as she held her new born baby boy.
As she looked at Him and their eyes touched each other’s hearts with such love, did she know the tears that would fall from those eyes?
Did she know that many would listen to the words coming from that once tiny mouth?
Did she know how swollen and bruised His face would one day be?
Or how the crown of thorns would rip away at His precious little head, only to look back at her with that same knowing look?
As she ran her finger over each of His fingers and His tiny hand, did she wonder how big the nail would be that would go through His little hand as His little hand was squeezing her finger?
And did she look at His hands and feet knowing the miles He would walk and the lives that He would touch?
And did she look and wonder how His feet would look with a nail through both?
As she held Him and patted His back, did she know how bad His body would be torn and disfigured from the beating that He would one day take?
And as He slept, did she place her hand on His back to feel and watch him breathe, only to wonder about the day she would watch Him take His last breath as she reached to touch Him one last time?
I believe Mary just loved Jesus and accepted what God had blessed her with. Yes, His Mighty Love
His Son.
