When a born again believer calls upon the name of the Lord, it is solely by the word of GOD, for how would They know without a preacher, and how would they believe without hearing.(Rom. 10:13-17) The word of God is LIVING and like a double edged sword , piercing and dividing the soul and spirit. (Heb. 4:12) (soul here I take to be the Adamic nature, and the spirit to be the intellect of man or his reasoning) (1 Cor. 2:9-12)

The word of God is Spiritual and supernatural to the Adamic natural man. This is not a theory, this is a witness to the Truth and power of the word of God by me. When I read the Scriptures, I was drawn to one person, "The Christ". I knew nothing, except the wonderment of this man and His words. (I thought to myself, who is this man?) This is where it begins. Scripture says,"call upon the name of the Lord and thou will be saved," The Above is how one comes to know and call upon His name which brings regeneration and salvation by God in Jesus Christ.

I studied History after I was reborn. History of the Church and of the Apostles. The Apostles bring much understanding on faith in use and the power of God in dying to self and living unto God. After the First century some of the history is suspect if one does a through study. What I learned in History had no bearing on my eternal security in God through Jesus The Christ. Making a decision on joining the Church by church history is a carnal decision. For every part of the born again believer is endowed with gifts from the Holy Spirit. this gift is supernatural, it is not a human decision to (in your own mind) that you are the only one that has discovered the truth and you alone are saving the world. (you are deceived) There is no schism in the body. The things of self willed believers are these: pride, self, superior, easily insulted by the Truth, and readily willing to make merchandise of those who try to reason. (and can bring out the worst in man by the constant belittling of carnal reasoning over Spiritual witnessing. The carnal are easily insulted by Spiritual discussions. This is not about anyone person, it is about carnal reasoning over Spiritual witnessing. Yes, history is an integral part of learning.

About History, the things I discovered that were fulfilling to the soul: LAST WORD OF SAINTS AND SINNERS, THE HISTORY OF THE 400 YEARS BETWEEN THE TESTAMENTS, THE MACCABEE PRIESTHOOD, and the linage from Maccabee to the Herods.

Most protestant seminaries (like the one I went to) gloss over the early church's history as if nothing important happened until Luther nailed his 95 these to the church door. (Or the Azuza Street revival, for Pentecostals) So the western church is mostly kept in the dark about such giants as St. Cyril Of Alexandria, St. Gregory of Nyssa, St Gregory Nazianzus, St. Basil, St. John Chrysostom, St. Gregory Palamas, St. Athanasius, and others.

I supported the Voice of the Martyrs several years ago. I bought many of their videos to give out to pastors and teachers. I never get any feedback? They know what it is to be persecuted for being believers, which makes many of our trials seem frivolous..But nevertheless the Lord is faithful.
