It is not our effort that makes us holy or bright, but Jesus's love, grace and mercy.

It's a nice full moon out tonight. Very bright. I think the "sign of the moon" (Gen.1:14) is how bright Chrisrs' love is shining through his church.

We are always shining as we're being conformed in Jesus' image. People can't see the light when pride gets in the way.

It's like when the moon is between the sun and earth it can't be seen in the sky, even though it's fully bright on the side facing the sun.The side facing earth is dark. The light shines in darkness but the darkness doesn't perceive it.

A Jewish guy once told me that when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem in 70AD, the Jewish believers in Jesus refused to fight.

I don't know if that's true, but if it is, Jesus' followers were probably thought of as unpatrotic. Holy people, looking good and shining bright?

When wars end people celebrate. Its been said the Atom bomb saved many lives by quickly ending WW2. In the USA, people celebrated in the streets. In Japan, innocent children cried as their bodies burned.
