Holy Spirit?

Hi,
I'm interested in Christianity, and I'm trying to better understand the Christian perspective on the Holy Spirit. So, I have a few questions:

- Who/what is the Holy Spirit?

- What is the Holy Spirit's purpose?

- Is the Holy Spirit here on Earth? Can it be part of nature?

If you could just elaborate a bit on your beliefs regarding the Holy Spirit, I would appreciate it! Thank you for your responses. :)

Hi Tara, welcome to the forums!

The Holy Spirit is the third "Person" of the Trinity and is referred to by many names including the Spirit of Christ and the Spirit of God. The purposes of the Holy Spirit are many but include the indwelling and equiping of believers for God's work, guiding and leading, and sanctifying (making holy) believers.

The Holy Spirit is here on earth in the sense that He indwells every believer and God is omnipresent. Being God the Holy Spirit was involved in Creation and therefore is not a part of nature.

Thank you, Free. :)
The reason I asked about nature was because the Holy Spirit, in the form of a dove, landed on Jesus after his baptism. Do you believe that the Holy Spirit can use nature to guide us to God?

Sorry about all the questions.

Yes. God can use anything to guide us to him. The Holy spirit is our guide. Just as a teacher can teach with many examples, the same is true for the Holy Spirit.

John is the 'expert' here:

John 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you
another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

John 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom
the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have
said unto you.

John 15:26  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send
unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth
from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Comforter because there will come peace to you that will
be stronger than the previous fear of death

He shall teach you all things, because he will witness to you
personally all truth, he will teach you about Jesus even without
anybody else would teach you.

"Do you believe that the Holy Spirit can use nature to guide us to God?"
well, to eliminate the implications contained in this question,
the scrict answer would be NO.

He uses His OWN nature to guide us to God. Outdoor "nature guidance"
is already prepostioned by other guiding spirits to make you love
"mother nature". You need to make very clear distinctions here.
