We live in a wold full of broken wonders, and many sorrows of the world. But in Isaiah 11, there is hope. A prophesy that hasn't been completed yet. And it is a hopeful one.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

There is no other hope as Christ Jesus is our hope and promise who will make an end to the brokenness of this world...................all praise be to His glorious name, amen.

What's that verse mean?

:wave2Hi justonesteak and welcome to the forums,

Isaiah chapter 11 in short is speaking about the promise of God in sending His son Jesus (Messiah) that by the grace of God we can be reconciled back to God through the forgiveness of our sins and saved from His wrath that will come upon those who refuse to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. John 3:1-7; Romans 10:9, 10. If you read the book of John in the Bible it will help you understand who Jesus is and our relationship to Him.

No matter what adversity you may face, "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward (Hebrews 10:35 NKJV)."

Stop trusting in human beings, whose life's breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration? Isaiah 2:22

It doesn't say jesus though, how can you be sure who it's talking about.

In my opinion also it's talking about Jesus. The first three verses talk about a person who fits with the discriptions of Jesus given in the New Testiment.

Verses four sounds like parts of promises that haven't happened yet. Wickedness will be destroyed. And on that level the verse can sound like many passages in the book of Revelations, which has some scary stuff concerning condemning our world for the evil that's in it.

But everything past verse four, has so much hope. A world with peace, where even the animals don't live with the fear of predators, even children are safe from the dangers of our world. And the kingdom of God is spread throughout all yhe nations and all of earth. What it means to me is hope for our broken world.

Yes, at the moment things seem helpless.

In the Old Testament prophecy is given about a coming Messiah being from the lineage of Jesse in Isaiah 11:1,2. Starting with Matthew Chapter one we see the one that comes from this lineage of Jesse is that of Jesus who is called the Christ (Messiah).

Another cross reference for this is found in Acts
Act 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
Act 13:23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

No my life is crappy as usual, I meant the world as a whole.
Jesus can take all the crappy stuff of our personal life and teach us how to have a better life, but it takes faith and trusting in Jesus to change whatever needs changing in our life. I have a class I teach on Salvation on my website that I would hope you would read that might answer many of your questions. Just click on the link at the end of my post and it will take you there.

No my life is crappy as usual, I meant the world as a whole.

Sorry to hear that life is usually crappy for you. If you have any needs or struggles that you want some support with. I can keep you in my prayers regarding them. I know there are a lot of other people here who would pray for you if they knew what to pray for. What to focus on.

On the other point, I agree, the world is pretty messed up.

Isaiah 55:1
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

Matthew 11:28-30
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

I may be admonished for this but throw your crap to Jesus, he has asked you to do that. Crap is dirty and it smells. He promised to make you clean and give you his fragrance. He has promised to work good in all things in your life, that's not the same as making all bad things good, but what is bad he will deal with and give you the strength to do so.

Messed is an understatement.

Can I really trust Jesus promises. Something I picked up from some non believers was that Jesus promises lots of things that just don't get fulfilled. I mean to say that Christians are supposed to show their faith with power from God, but when they are put to the test they say "They didn't have enough faith." The thing is, if you need the very thing you have to perform miracles, then why can't most Christians perform miracles.

Yes you can trust the promises of Jesus. He is not a liar. He cannot be a liar because he is the truth.

'Jesus promised a lot of things that don't get fulfilled. In terms of moving in power to perform miracles to show our faith that don't get fulfilled then why can't most Christians perform miracles?

Let's be honest, how many of us whether we believe or not when we have hit a crisis point in our lives say something along the follows lines "God if your real please help me if you do I will beleive or be a better Christian. God knows if we are genuine, he knows whether we will follow though with our promise. He is not interested in our promises but is interested in our heart.

In fact when Jesus walked the earth there were people who asked for miracles but he refused because he knew they would not believe. In fact he performed miracles but they still refused to beleive and asked for more miracles.

Christians do not perform miracles God does.

What is a miracle?

I have prayed 3 times for someone to be raised from the dead. It didn't happen. Why not? Truth is I have no idea and it can't be the lack of faith for the person who was dead.

I have prayed for people with physical issues and God healed. In fact one person I prayed for ended up, in hospital was told he was lucky to be alive. I prayed for him in the morning and he went into hospital in the afternoon. The doctor said to him. The issue you had would have killed you within and hour. That's a miracle.

I know of a person who had a severe gambling problem. Threatened their marriage, lots of debt. Now he does not gamble, God helped him pay off his debt over a period of a few years that's a miracle. No quick fix with the debt but a quick fix to the problem.

When God works in me to be a better employer, that's a miracle (cause I know me) when God works in me to buy food for someone who needs it, that's a miracle, I could go on.

No, that's just being human. You seem to attribute normal occurrences with a belief that something supernatural has happened. There's not even a event you've described that would be a suspension of any natural laws, but this is what some non believers said to me about how Christians define their faith.

What's being human? What's a normal occurrence with a belief something supernatural has happened? What event has been described that is a suspension of any natural law. What is natural law? How would you define faith. Not being obtuse just asking.
