In general, what is your view towards horoscopes? I'm just curious as to how people here view those little paragraphs on the back of the comics page.

I treat horoscopes much like fortune cookies. They're fun for a laugh, but I don't regard them as a fortune telling device. I prefer the Runes and Tarot.

As a witch I used to study astrology, as well as read Tarot for myself and others - don't touch it now. The Biblical injunctions against astrology and all forms of divination are multiple and serious. For a Christian, to seek 'supernatural' knowledge from any other source but God is sin; it exemplifies a lack of trust and faith.

If you read a horoscope, you do not necessarily have to be looking for any knowledge at all. Like witchy_woman said, horoscopes can be treated as if they are simply good for a laugh. I understand what you mean if the horoscope is taken seriously, but if a Christian treats a horoscope as an object of entretainment with no truth is it still a sin?

If God says something is detestable, why would a Christian treat it as an object of fun?

'Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD.' Deut 18:10-12

For me, it's a case of the following:

'What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!' Rom 6:21

There you are Andre, your topic is all cleaned up. Now you can sleep peacefully. Maybe you can show a little respect by changing your siggy. After all, you don't believe in Him anyway.

It's actually a quote from the Simpsons. And thank you for cleaning it up.

:D You see, once you get past my sarcastic sense of humor, I'm only half as bad as I appear to be. 8-)

but if a Christian treats a horoscope as an object of entretainment with no truth is it still a sin?

If I said wicca is evil and should not be practiced by anyone, you would say that it is LOVE and RESPECT, and that I had not right to say that it was evil.

But you somehow have the authority to tell Christians when somethign that GOD said NO to, is OK.

Interesting bit of hyprocracy here, horoscopes are wicked and evil things, that should not be looked at, even in fun. A fire is a fire no matter the fun we have with it, and sooner ot later someone is going to get burned.

And before you say that I have no right to say that horoscopes are wicked, it is God who says that, and if you have the right to beleive as you do, then so do I. And happen to believe that God is right.

If God says something is detestable, why would a Christian treat it as an object of fun?

thank you wigginsmum, you are right on the money.

I never attacked you. Calm down Henry. I simply wanted to know how everyone felt about horoscopes. You made it clear how you feel. There's no need to be hostile.

Interesting analogy Henry. I like it. I like this one too...

'Once you get something into your head, it's almost impossible to get it out.'

That should be an all-encompassing statement. It applys to just about everything around us. Images we see on TV, in magazines, on billboards, signs, etc. The things we read, listen to...say. :-?

Needless to say, I pay NO attention to horoscopes at all. In the mid 80's, I dated a young lady...her and her mom were heavily into it. I got into it too. Didn't feel 'right' so I got out. So ended the relationship. Why? Her mom said it was 'written in hte stars' that our relationship was bound to fail.

I don't need to have every move and choice I make determined by some big floating balls of gas in space. 8-)

Looks like the stars were right

LOL, nice play on words, but the truth of the matter is this... I was willing at the time to make it work. On the other hand, the constant probing my her mom and the fact that she believed her is what doomed the relationship.

Like I said earlier, "Once you get something into your head, it's almost impossible to get it out."

We do not need some astrologer's chart to tell us what lies in our future.

Or as Bob Dylan put it, "You don't need a weatherman to see which way the wind blows."

When you have the knowledge of the Holy Word of God...
the horoscopes, tarot, runes, and all other forms of divination are totally ludicrous in value.

I studied all sorts of "Occult", Religions, and Divinations for well over 38 years! I used to go to conventions where all kinds of New Age things were going on! I used to practice Astrology and read Tarot and got paid for it! I was good at it! People used to come to me all the time for readings. I can read the stars like they were the sunday paper! And although there is are tid bits of wisdom and some relevance in astrology, as to the turning of the tides, emotionally and physically, (I believe there is an emotional and or physical connection to the changes in atmosphere... Look at barometric pressure and what it does to your energy level. And notice how criminal acts are increased during a full moon. etc. How plants fair better if planted during certain cycles of the moon, etc...) I do believe that it can't hold a candle to the Truth in the Word of God as written in the Holy Bible. Now, what I was very serious about in the past, is nonsense and I see it for what it really is. mixed up hogwash nonsense. The wisdom of God makes me laugh at the nonsense in divinations that "GUESS" and tell you about "tendencies" are abound and that all are subject to change. It is only partial truths and twisted truths. It is not forthright like the Word of God is. And it takes your focus off of The Truth of Gods Word. It takes your focus off of God and places it on unreliable nonsense that is only part truth. The focus is on the position of the stars and the assigned tendency to them, and not on God!

Contrarily! God's Word is Absolute! There is no way it is subject to change and there is no way it is deceptive like the workings of the occultic practices!

Horoscopes tell you how your day is going to be according to the mood you may have because of a certain aspect in planetary line up and what may occur because of a certain planetary line up. Mercury retrograde is a good one for that! If you listen to it's forewarnings, your day will be so focused on being careful of this and that they it will drive you nuts! Well, God's Word tells you that you can do all things through Christ IN you.
Horoscopes tell you it's the influence of the planets that are dictating what comes your way and that you should take note of it or you will be left unprotected from it's influence.

God's word makes all that so called "Occult" ridiculous and foolishness that only mocks and distorts the Truth in the Word of God.

The closer I got to God the more I dropped paying attention to those ludicrous practices.

The Word of the Holy God is all we need..... really!
Take it from an ex-practitioner.

I'd rather jump into the lake of living waters full of life, than jump into the lake of fire that leads to death, a death to the life and truth in the Word of God by focusing on distorted truths.

God's loving redemption is an amazing Grace!

All we need do is to give up relying on things that lead to deception and sin. And follow the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Holy and Pure.

:bday: Be born again, by the renewing of your mind in Christ Jesus.

LET JESUS BE YOUR "HEAVENLY" GUIDE AND TEACHER!

HE IS THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR.
The only star you need to follow!

:D

Take it from a former pro astrologer/Tarot reader! LOL

Read the 22 chapter of Revelation! also notice verses 14 thru 16. But don't take any of the chapter for granted! :)

Amen this is the truth !! When we have the very word of God himself we have no need of man made nonsence, which all a horoscope it.

What is sad is that so many reject the truth, but the bible does say that they will trade the truth for a lie and all becuase they did not want to do the things of God, but the things of self.

It is just sad really, becuase these lost souls are totally ignorant to what they are missing out on.
