How are things going so far for everyone?

Since I dropped my A&P (again... :-? ), I'm LOVING school! I'm only taking College Algebra. I have hated math my entire life. I'm petrified of numbers. But....I am LOVING math now! I've made A's on all my tests so far (we've had 4).

I'm still trying to find a part time job. No luck at all. I've applied at 9 places the past 2 weeks. I'm getting discouraged over that. Nobody wants me from 9-2 (those are the hours I'm trying to get). They all require 3-11 or 7-7 on days that I can't work them. Oh well. Hopefully something will come up. I applied at all the places I know they hire CNA's without experience and have now resorted to grocery stores. As much as I want a CNA position, I will take anything at this moment.

So, I need a job, but on the other hand, I LOVE school. And with me not having to go back and forth so often, I'm able to start back up my volunteer work at my kids school. We've got the book fair starting next week, so I'm excited about that.

Well, I'm liking school pretty good so far...then again, I haven't had a major test yet - that will happen tomorrow, so things may change... I have a folk and square dance class which is...interesting, but fun. I've also found out that I have a lot of trouble serving in badmittion. It's not bad, though. I really do like it. Then there's the literature classes. They're not that bad. I don't always agree with my teachers, but, then again, who does?

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying school. It's always encouraging to do well in a subject that doesn't come that easy to you. As far as the job, just keep praying and trying, that's about all you can do. God will provide; of course, I'm sure you know that already. I'll pray that God will provide you with a job.

Its going OK so far. I took one of 2 tests that make up my entire grade for a class this semester monday so that has passed and a little less stress is occuring. I also started my pediatric rotation in nursing school this week. I took care of a kid from Louisiana that was displaced.

I'm broke, tired and waiting for it to be over with, but all in all I can't complain. I'm glad it isn't easy otherwise everyone would be going to school. Oh wait thats why I hated my former university, everyone went because it was easy and their parents paid for everything. :x At least I will be able to appreciate what I have earned, and give glory to God because of the miracles that had to occur for me to go and be successful up to this point.

Oh wow! How are you liking Peds all in all? Have you had L&D rotations yet? That's what I look forward to.

I love my math class. I'm just so shocked that I can actually understand what we're learning. It's an awesome feeling. I've had to do a TON of practice work. We're assigned a lot of homework, but we don't have to do it. I do though because I notice it helps me tremendously.

I'm going to a different school next year. The only bad part is that they require TWO Anatomy and Physiology classes. The one I go to now only requires one for the LPN program. This other school has a better nursing program from what I hear though. They also have an LPN-RN bridging program. I want to become an LPN first so I can make sure it's what I want to do since I keep going back and forth between it and teaching.

It's been a rough time so far, but not because of school itself. I had been away for the summer, and so when school started I moved back home with my dad (I'm a commuter). The first day of school at night dad sat me down and told me I have to move. His reasons were that I put a damper on him furthering his personal relationships. Basically that means he has a girlfriend but doesn't want me to know about it. I had to rush around trying to find someone, anyone to live with. It's my fourth year of college and I didn't want to have to drop out.

Well, God prevailed and had an older couple come to me and offer a room in their house. I've now lived at my new place for over a week, and managing to focus better on school work than when I was living with Dad. Depression has taken it's toll, especially since I never did anything wrong to get kicked out, but I'm glad God has been, is, and will continue to work in my life.

Oh Sarah, I'm so sorry. I can only imagine how hurt you must be. Gosh, that would crush me.
:crying:

But you sound like a strong individual. It's good that you have your faith. I often wonder what people that don't believe in God do in hard times like yours.

Do you know the people you are living with?

What classes are you taking this semester?

Sorry to hear that Sara. Sometimes parents forget priorities. My dad didn't do his taxes one year so I couldn't get financial aid, so I would have to quit school and work for him. :sad God provides a way if it is His plan. :D You will finish, just force to take a slightly harder path.

And to Nikki, peds is ok, I'm pretty sure it isn't what I want to do, but it is a fun experience so far. As for L&D, I'm dreading it. That is my second half of the semester. Me and just about every other guy in my class is basically wanting to just get through it. I just don't think it is the right place for a male nurse to be as a permanent job. Most of the women are excite, but definately not the men.

We have to take A&P for 2 semesters too, except anatomy is one semester and physiology is another. I'm thinking it would be better to be taught together, but who knows.

Thanks guys :)

To answer your question YES, I sort of know the people I'm living with. They attend the same church as I so I've kind of seen them around, but haven't really gotten to know them. I'm learning a LOT about this this week.

In terms of classes, I'm taking:

1. French
2. Philisophical Psychology
3. Group Therapy/Process
4. Drawing 1
5. Probability and Statistics

Textbooks weren't too many this semester, but the art class required I buy tons of supplies, and the math class required I get a TI-83+ which for those of who who know aren't very cheap. Luckily there was a sale at Staples last week.

In terms of the dad situation, I'm hoping it will get better. I went over to grab my mail there today when no one was home, and saw a phone number with the last name of the people I'm staying with. The phone number he had written down was wrong. My guess is he wants his house key back

Okay, here's my class by class break down.

BIO 101 - The teacher is really monotone, which makes it hard for me to pay attention, but It's 101 so I'm doing fine. I know I can't have the same teacher when I take 102. Overall - Good

ENG 102 - Another dull teacher, but I've had her before and she gets better if you particpate, so I have been. The trick is, she's a humanist. So I try to watch what topics I share my take on as I'm not looking to start debates in class. Now out of class... Overall - Okay

Greek 101 - My grades haven't been as perfect as I wanted them to be, but I'm still doing pretty well considering I didn't have a book for the first two weeks. Loan Problems. The Teacher's cool, and a lot of things are similar to learning Latin, which is good because I had Latin all 4 years in H.S. Overall - Really Good

CHR 220 - This class is about the history of Christian theology. It's really fun for me, because My professor is a staunch calvinist, and I'm a strict biblicist. Plus, this is what I came to school to learn about, so that makes the class enjoyable too. Overall - Good

HIS 201 - The teacher is a Northerner, so I can actually understand his all the time. (This is due to my also being a born and raised Yankee.) The class is a blast, because he doesn't mind students poking in with the occasional wise crack, and yes I do my share when the moments are appropriate. I really liked this professor when I had him for His 151, and that's partially why I even took the class. However this is my only class where grading really hasn't started yet. Overall - Great...for now
