How can we use the internet to spread the word of God? What are the possibilities this medium bring us to preach?

Tell me your ideas of the use of the internet to praise the Lord. :smt115

I got a website to bring christian and non christian musicians together, and you also don't have to be a musician. The reason I did this is that somebody might turn thier lives over to Jesus through the site. And also their are only about a handful of Christian forums for musicians on the internet. And I mean very few.
And I have the only one in Philadelphia. So what I am saying here is that I found a target, and that is musicians, because I am one. And also people spend a great deal of time online today. So if you want to start a ministry online please do so. And find some kind of specialty like Apologetics or something that will make your site get searched out, that was just a example. But a ministry online today is a great thing, people are getting saved online, so what does that tell you.

Yea there are many ways. like forums such as this. Websites with biblical and or Christian information, blogs. Limited only to the imagination.

That´s for sure guys, i myself have a place in the net where i put my designs in the service of those who want´s to praise the Lord. I will soon open a website about it to. I´m just not so sure about how the last one will be...

The idea behind this thread is not to just afirm there are things that can be done using the net, but discuss those strategies and get to know them!

So here is my link. I would like to see some others links around... I invite you to talk about mine, and i hope we all can discuss the others.

I have a web site, too. Primarily, that's the way to go if you want to reach countless thousands.

A web site is a paradox, however. It has the ability to reach everywhere, even further than a radio or television, but ironically it is only accessible to only those who know it's there. That in effect "limits" the audience. That's the importance of a good search engine. But even then, you'll only reach people who type in keywords that are more unique on your site--- if you have a "run of the mill" web site, then don't expect to be listed with a search engine. MILLIONS will no doubt have the word "Jesus" on it, and you may be something listed like 457,527. On the other hand, if you are unique, you'll get the hits, but only by those who are like-minded that typed in special keywords. But I guess a limited audience is not necessarily a bad thing.

Who would have thought that a common man as myself would and could one day "preach" to the whole world (potentially)? That's the power of the Internet. I find the whole thing amazing.

Yes WMD. All the art is mine. I still want to create more, but the shop is kinda limited yet, so i´ll only have a big variety of products after some sellings...

then don't expect to be listed with a search engine.

I know what you mean tim_from_pa... Since i couldn´t create the code for my shop i don´t have much hope to appear on search engines in a good position. I believe more in a network mouth-to-mouth thing. I believe that, if the design is good, after someone give a gift to another everything might go on.

I´m not to worried about making money also, since it´s not my day job. I think of it more as a way to have fun designing stuff, and of course, something that i love: Spread the word of Lord using my gift.

tim_from_pa, why don´t you give us your website adressaddress

Hey Tim, what was the problem?

I remember I had a website email in here once, and this server
got hacked a couple of times. Is that what you're referring to?

No, but now that you mentioned this, I guess that's another good reason to avoid it.

My doctrine has elements of Anglo-Israelism in it although I go to a mainline church---- I was not a follower of Armstrong or any other personality like I was unfairly being criticized of. I thought it best to divorce the site from all forums lest I was accused of pushing anything and also so that the site would not get a bad name just in the (unlikely) case that others thought I lost it on a forum.

Previously, I (think) I was a relatively well-known participant but I now see new names so they would not remember me. I placed that signature at the bottom so that when I had say, my first post or two, I was not considered a "newbie" or troll like all new people are suspected of being at first. I guess I could remove it soon.

I come across as an individual now, not a web site.

I think the gospel can definitely be spread through the information highway. I think it might be more difficult at times because you aren't communicating with someone face to face and it's a lot easier for folks to be guarded sitting behind a keyboard but doesn't automatically mean it's not possible. This was one reason why I started my website in my signature.

Good point Tim regarding being an individual, not a web site.
For some reason there are always a few people assuming web site
owners are pushing something. And many do, and many are just
honestly advancing a current word or perspective that's missing
in the mainstream.

I'm still undecided if I should "promote" the newsletter I write to a larger
audience, since it got started initially for a specific audience only.

A point regarding visibility: These days it costs money, you cannot
just put up a new website ...and people, or search engines will
find it. You need other websites to link to yours, that's how relevancy
is messured by search engines, and that's how listings are achieved.

You can do link exchanges, submit to directories, and a good one:
submit articles to article sites. They'll list you with your sig file and
link back to your site. Also other will republish your article on their site,
what will link back to your site. That's how the engines find you,
and the more sites link to you, the better the search result listing in
the engines will be.

Personally I use the Internet like a library, and I'm thankful for all the
sincere deep thinkers out there, the classic Christian books and also
the audio messages and sermons.

I suggest getting on forums that are of interest to you and praying for an opportunity. I am a mother so I am on a baby forum and someone just mentioned that they wanted to talk to someone about God so I privately wrote and we talked. Interestingly, a lot of nonChristians like to come to Christian forums for some reason so even on a forum like this, you can evangelize.

Maybe you can send emails to a list of people. Some people would delete it, but others may forward it.
You could also send out emails to your friends (and associates) inviting them to your board.
My idea probably would not work, as I know that people delete without reading emails from people they do not know because of fear of viruses. But it might if you have a regular 'forward" list. At least some of them would read and maybe even forward it to their list.

My website is an educational tool to provide people with information very, very few in the Christian world are aware of.

And, I'm always looking for 'topic headings' which will be of some interest to Non-Christians as well, in leading them into a knowledge of Jesus Christ.

On the website I have e-books that can be read online.
One of them is called the, "Desire of Ages", which is a detailed the life of Jesus Christ....which the Library of Congress of the United States of American has gone on record, as saying is the best book on the life of Christ, out of the 10,000 books they have on the life of Jesus.

My website is called: "Institute of Biblical Knowledge"
