How Charles Finney's Theology Ravaged the Evangelical Moveme

I love reading blogs and try to read a couple a day. While reading just now I found the following little article, it's well written and soooooo true.

Enjoy.

Finney's ministry was founded on duplicity from the beginning. He obtained his license to preach as a Presbyterian minister by professing adherence to the Westminster Confession of Faith. But he later admitted that he was almost totally ignorant of what the document taught.

I don't want to debate, so i'll state my veiw from some of what I read and leave it at that...

In some ways I thought the article made Charles Finney look like a true man of God.
Too bad he thought he needed a document in order to preach when he really didn't because God made the appointments. Although he was a little deceptive, I can think of some biblical men of God who used deception also.. (like Jacob)
I also agreed with alot of his doctrines and thought they were sound, some issues in the article seemed a little nitpicky to me.
I heard in an interveiw that Billy Graham once said "even though many come up to the alter, after a years time very few are still walking with God."

P.S. That face could literaly have scared the hell right out of alot of people.. :D

D, this post was only to make folks aware, not to debate. If you like his way of thinking on the doctrines of God, I can live with that.

Peace Des.
