How did we become sinners?

The bible says somewhere that a man shall not be put to death (condemned) for the sins of the father, right? A father who sins shall face the required punishment...right? Same with sons to the fathers
Deut 24:16

Even when children were punished for the sins of the father...the curse was terminated at the fourth generation, right?
Ex 20:5, Num 14:18

Good.
So how did we become sinners via Adam.

We cannot change the nature of Adam we have, though we're not responsible for our ignorance, only that which is revealed to us. Children will lie in a heartbeat.

That's commonly thought, but children raised loving the truth, according to Scripture and in Yeshua's training, don't lie.
My sons were the only two at their class who did not lie. The head of the school said it wasn't possible for children not to lie, until after 3 weeks seeing my children daily on school days. Bad morals are so common, it is apparently considered extraordinary or impossible(by the worldly) to have good morals.
Other children, raised right, according to Scripture/Torah in Yhwh's grace, (as by some in Israel, and by some in china, and by some in other places) don't lie, cheat, steal or commit sexual sins -- it doesn't even enter into their thoughts to do so (although later in life, from influences outside the home, ...well... it may happen then....)

"1 Corinthians 15:33Revised Standard Version (RSV)
33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

Proverbs 22:6 KJV - Train up a child in the way he should ...
Proverbs 22:6 King James Version (KJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

i.e. he won't lie , cheat, steal, or commit adultery later in life either.... Israel went through a lot of us and downs as recorded in Scripture - times they did right, then times they sinned..... according to their leader(s) or other influences(foreign wives for instance).....

biblegateway: "1 Corinthians 7:14King James Version (KJV)
14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy."

Scripture did not say we all became sinners. Scripture does say the curse came even on those who had not sinned after Adams transgression though. (Rom 5:14) So sin or no sin, the curse ends the same, death. All have sinned anyway and fall short regardless by their own issues.

Scripture does not not say the reason Jesus came was to save sinners. That was an after affect but not the main reason. We tend to forget why He had to come. Jesus came to take something back from someone, something Adam gave away through disobedience.

1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
(Gen 3:15)

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
(Heb 2:14-15)

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
(Joh 10:10)

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
(Col 1:13-14)

Once your happy with every context sounding OK for the context of every verse, you have found the meaning of the word under study. Sure some context might read strange and badly so a few English prepositions here and there is useful.
So the Greek word "kathistemi" means to "establish or set up a ruler, who rules over things"

Now we can answer your question

When Adam and Eve sinned there was a change of rulership over the earth...

Ro 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were ruled sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be ruled righteous.

Satan is the prince of this world and he rules us making us sin ignorantly and later we sin wilfully. Unless you happento be ruled by Jesus under His salvation.

Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

Shalom
