I want to know how the Holy Spirit works. Can it cleanse me of sin? I’m unraveling the mysteries of Christianity day by day and now I seek absolution in the ways of the Holy Spirit. Is the Holy Spirit truly as powerful as they say? I want to be cleansed by it guided by it as I live my life.

Why not just do what Peter commanded in Acts 2:38 ?
Acts 2:38..."Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Turn from sin and get baptized for your cleansing, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost !

Something to clarify. The Holy Spirit is not an "it." He is one of the Trinity and is God.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."
John 14:15-17 NKJV

“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
John 14:25-26 NKJV

The Spirit can indeed guide in all things, and will lead you away from sin (though you can still fall into it in ignorance, or if you choose to be rebellious).

I remember hearing from a sermon that in the original tongue (I forget if it was Greek or Hebrew) the verb used in scripture to refer to being filled with the Holy Spirit is one that specifically refers to an ongoing process. It's important to understand that you need to be continually refilled with His Spirit.

I think you need to talk with your minister as you appear to be very confused about basic Christianity.

Jesus through his death and resurrection cleansed you of sin
What do you believe are the ' mysteries ' of Christianity. Jesus came to save us and is coming again, not exactly rocket science.
Absolution is a word used by priests to say one's sins are forgiven, as a Christian you go direct to God for forgiveness see 1john1:9.

Guidance as you listen to bible expository summons, read and study the Bible, as you pray about the Bible, life etc and seek to obey Jesus's commands you will be guided.
But think for a moment. In the military they have what are called standing orders that frame everyday life in the military so the commander in chief doesn’t have to go round telling every soldier, sailor or airman to get up, dressed etc.
It is the same in Christianity our standing orders are the ten commandments, we live by them, we don't expect a heavenly voice to tell us to worship God, don't tell that lie etc.

This is all basic Christianity like being a member of a church is basic, so talk to your minister.

HI Warrior8080

According to the words of the Lord, the Holy Spirit is our teacher and guide as we continue our lives once we have trusted and affirmed Jesus' work for our salvation and strive to live as he lived and commanded us to live. He is the one who will convict us of both sin and righteousness. So when we do good deeds for the Lord, and they must be for the Lord and not just good deeds, he is the one who makes us feel 'good' about that work and confirms for us that what we've done is a righteous thing in his sight. If we sin, he's the one who makes us feel terrible about that sin and drives us to repent of the sin and continue to strive to live as Jesus has asked us.

According to Paul, we get that spiritual guide when we have accepted Jesus, and I personally believe, been baptized. That's the example that we see when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Jesus went down into the water and when he came up John saw the Spirit come down and rest on him. John described his appearance as being like that of a dove.

He does not cleanse us of our sin. Jesus has already done that if our faith is real, but the Holy Spirit is the one who will be confirming for us as we live this life that our faith is real. Jesus is the only one who takes away our sin.

Wow I just had a revelation, through a dream the Holy Ghost was working through me. June, September and October the Holy Ghost wrote to me. He also chastised me saying I should no longer eat Chinese food. The awful things they put me Chinese food you know even they put people in Chinese food.

I’m just so sad that I’m a sinner guys.

I'm assuming you're joking about the Chinese food.

No, I don't think so. You have no idea who the Holy Spirit is. And until you yield yourself to God, trusting in Christ as your Savior and submitting to him as your Lord, the Holy Spirit will remain a stranger to you.

Sounds like trolling to me...

Uh huh. What have you done with Jesus? Is he your Savior and Lord? If not, you will one day be far, far sadder about your sin than you are now.

Confess Jesus as LORD and believe God raised Him from the dead.

By this you have chosen to submit to Jesus Christ as your Lord.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
