I want to know how the Holy Spirit works. Can it cleanse me of sin? I’m unraveling the mysteries of Christianity day by day and now I seek absolution in the ways of the Holy Spirit. Is the Holy Spirit truly as powerful as they say? I want to be cleansed by it guided by it as I live my life.

Why not just do what Peter commanded in Acts 2:38 ?
Acts 2:38..."Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Turn from sin and get baptized for your cleansing, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost !

Something to clarify. The Holy Spirit is not an "it." He is one of the Trinity and is God.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."
John 14:15-17 NKJV

“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
John 14:25-26 NKJV

The Spirit can indeed guide in all things, and will lead you away from sin (though you can still fall into it in ignorance, or if you choose to be rebellious).

I remember hearing from a sermon that in the original tongue (I forget if it was Greek or Hebrew) the verb used in scripture to refer to being filled with the Holy Spirit is one that specifically refers to an ongoing process. It's important to understand that you need to be continually refilled with His Spirit.

I think you need to talk with your minister as you appear to be very confused about basic Christianity.

Jesus through his death and resurrection cleansed you of sin
What do you believe are the ' mysteries ' of Christianity. Jesus came to save us and is coming again, not exactly rocket science.
Absolution is a word used by priests to say one's sins are forgiven, as a Christian you go direct to God for forgiveness see 1john1:9.

Guidance as you listen to bible expository summons, read and study the Bible, as you pray about the Bible, life etc and seek to obey Jesus's commands you will be guided.
But think for a moment. In the military they have what are called standing orders that frame everyday life in the military so the commander in chief doesn’t have to go round telling every soldier, sailor or airman to get up, dressed etc.
It is the same in Christianity our standing orders are the ten commandments, we live by them, we don't expect a heavenly voice to tell us to worship God, don't tell that lie etc.

This is all basic Christianity like being a member of a church is basic, so talk to your minister.

HI Warrior8080

According to the words of the Lord, the Holy Spirit is our teacher and guide as we continue our lives once we have trusted and affirmed Jesus' work for our salvation and strive to live as he lived and commanded us to live. He is the one who will convict us of both sin and righteousness. So when we do good deeds for the Lord, and they must be for the Lord and not just good deeds, he is the one who makes us feel 'good' about that work and confirms for us that what we've done is a righteous thing in his sight. If we sin, he's the one who makes us feel terrible about that sin and drives us to repent of the sin and continue to strive to live as Jesus has asked us.

According to Paul, we get that spiritual guide when we have accepted Jesus, and I personally believe, been baptized. That's the example that we see when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Jesus went down into the water and when he came up John saw the Spirit come down and rest on him. John described his appearance as being like that of a dove.

He does not cleanse us of our sin. Jesus has already done that if our faith is real, but the Holy Spirit is the one who will be confirming for us as we live this life that our faith is real. Jesus is the only one who takes away our sin.

Wow I just had a revelation, through a dream the Holy Ghost was working through me. June, September and October the Holy Ghost wrote to me. He also chastised me saying I should no longer eat Chinese food. The awful things they put me Chinese food you know even they put people in Chinese food.

I’m just so sad that I’m a sinner guys.

I'm assuming you're joking about the Chinese food.

No, I don't think so. You have no idea who the Holy Spirit is. And until you yield yourself to God, trusting in Christ as your Savior and submitting to him as your Lord, the Holy Spirit will remain a stranger to you.

Sounds like trolling to me...

Uh huh. What have you done with Jesus? Is he your Savior and Lord? If not, you will one day be far, far sadder about your sin than you are now.

Confess Jesus as LORD and believe God raised Him from the dead.

By this you have chosen to submit to Jesus Christ as your Lord.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:-10

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire, (fire means empowerment)

Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Seven works of the Holy Spirit in sanctification
1. Transforms us - Romans 12:1-2; 2Corinthians 3:18
2. Convicts us of sin - John 16:8-11
3. Guides us into all truths - John 14:26
4. Empowers us to proclaim Christ - Acts 1-8; Ephesians 1:13
5. Gives us Spiritual gifts - 1Corinthians 12
6. Empowers us to worship - Ephesians 3:14-19
7. Leads us - Galatians 5:25

We put on Jesus by the renewal of our mind, body and soul through Jesus life, death and resurrection by which we can reconcile ourselves back to Gods grace and mercy through His Salvation of Spiritual renewal and Spiritual rebirth of spirit. We now have the mind of Christ as joint heirs with Jesus as we walk in the path of Jesus and not our own path anymore. John 3:3-21

Sin separates us from God because God is a spirit and can only recognize his own children by what spirit is living in their hearts. We have to renew, rebirth - born again, Gods Spirit within us in order to be called a child of God and see the kingdom of heaven. We now put off the old man (flesh) and put on the new man (Spirit), Colossians 3:1-17. We are renewed by the word of God and through the Holy Spirit teaching us of all things, John 14:26.

Acts 2:38,39 When we repent of our sins and ask Jesus into our hearts we are also receiving the promise of God that his Holy Spirit will come and dwell in our hearts and teach us of all things we need to learn, John 14:26. The baptism that Peter was talking about in Acts 2:38 was a Spiritual rebirth through the word of God. Some people think it is being dunked or sprinkled with water the way John the Baptist did and there is nothing wrong with that for it is an outward appearance to man that you have repented and received Jesus and the Holy Spirit into your life, Matthew 3:11, but Jesus himself never baptized with water, John 4:2, for the baptism of Jesus was for receiving the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) that helps us to learn all truths and to know the will of the Father, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12.

After repentance and the Spiritual rebirth, John 3:5-7, we are then baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire through that of Christ baptism according to Acts 2:38, 39, Matthew 3:11.

This is the Baptism of Christ for receiving the Holy Spirit that is different from John's baptism.

The answer ?
Seek Jesus. Read the Bible voraciously, all the time, as able. (definitely not commentaries)

Re: How do I let the Holy Spirit into my body, soul?

Have you tried an RSVP?

John 4:10-14 . . If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a
drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.
Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him
will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

John 7:37-39 . . On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in
a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes
in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.
By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.
Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been
glorified.

Rev 22:17 . .The Spirit and the bride say: Come! And let him who hears say:
Come! Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free
gift of the water of life.

Here's a suggestion:

Find some privacy. Cover your face with your hands for a sense of connection, and
in your own words-- under your breath or out loud --simply tell God you would like
to take advantage of His son's death to protect yourself from retribution; and also
that you'd like to have the living water he spoke of.

Hello brethren. Not many people have holy Spirit. Person is fortunate to have it. 1 Corinthians chapter 2:4. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of mans wisdom, but in the demonstration of the Spirit of power. Traditions of men will lead people astray. God won't bless any Christian who listens to it or teaches it. Or philosophy. 2:6 how be it we speak wisdom among them that are perfect, yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought. Christian people should be mature in God's word, have the meat of Gods word, not stuck on milk. Without the latter rain, students won't understand meat of Gods word. 2:12. Now we have received, not the Spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God that we might know the things that are freely given to us By God. Carnal minded people can't understand the meat of Gods word. They can't get pass the milk of God's word. After 20 years, the congregation is still spiritually dead. This is unacceptable, the churches, and pastors are responsible for the congregation. Do it God's way, and be blessed. Walking contrary to God is bad business. 2:14. But the natural man receive not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, because they are spiritually discerned. Without holy Spirit, person can't ascertain deep truth of Gods word. Why ?? Because God placed Spirit of slumber on some people, and they can't understand deep truth of Gods word. Romans chapter 8:5. For they that are after the flesh do mimd the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Reprobates resist the holy Spirit, they have unclean Spirit. Reprobates don't have Spirit of slumber. The spiritually dead are those who have Spirit of slumber. Two different groups here. 8:8. So then they are in the flesh can't please God. H 8:14. For as many are led by the Spirit of God, they are sons of God. How do I know if I have holy Spirit ? Your conscience will convict you of sin and you will repent. And you know Satan comes 6th trump in his role as false Christ. Those who have Holy Spirit will never go against God's word,or go against God. There are many false teachers in the world, and don't have holy Spirit. They mislead Christian people, and lie. Spiritual discernment is important. To discern between sound doctrine and traditions of men. 1 Corinthians chapter 12:4. Now there are diversity of gifts, but one Spirit. Those who have Holy Spirit, have different gifts and abilities. It's to glorify Jesus, He gets all the credit. Body of Christ are servants of God. Proverbs chapter 3:13. Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver, and her profit better than gold. Those who have Holy Spirit are rich, and the wicked have money. Fools reject wisdom of God, and chase after the world. Its our works for God that matters. Have you been profitable servant of God ? Or unprofitable ? Again, some people have Spirit of slumber for there own protection. Reprobates are different story. Proverbs 15:2. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge righlty, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. You won't learn anything ffom false shepherd's. They teach one of two verses, and talk hot air for hour. Im not knocking churches down. They're are few good ones left. Traditions of men will leave you starving for nourishment. Many congregations are spiritually dead. Leave a pastor or church that is on dead end street.
Paradosis in Greek means - traditions of men.
Eviliy in Hebrew means - foolish.
Chrisma in Greek means+ Holy Spirit.
Manda in Greek means - understanding, knowledge
Edah in Greek means - congregation
Paideutes in Greek means - teacher, instructor
Stoikos in Greek means - philosophy
Achreiro in Greek means - Unprofitable
Nuwm in Hebrew means - Spirit of slumber, Isaiah chapter 6.
Etsah in Hebrew means - counsel
Paideia in Greek means - discipline
The counsel we listen to can give us spiritual growth. Or cause stagnation. The poison pills of false brethren will lead to Satan's camp. We don't want satans sedative. The counsel we seek will be success or failure. Peace.

Talk to Him. Ask Him to cause you to walk with Him. Remember that He is in this world, and Christ the Lord is not; according to Christ, He speaks through the Holy Spirit now, and the Holy Spirit speaks as Christ gives Him to do so.
