I heard this on Wretched Radio and thought it was pretty good:
A man's fence was knocked down and his horse escaped.
His neighbors said, "Well that's too bad."
The man said, "How do you know it's bad?"
The next day, the horse came back and following him was a whole herd of wild horses that the man was able to corral, greatly increasing his wealth.
His neighbors said, "Well that's good."
The man said, "How do you know it's good?"
The next day, the man's son was trying to break one of the wild horses and was thrown and broke his leg.
His neighbors said, "Well that's too bad."
The man said, "How do you know it's bad?"
The next day, a war broke out and the king drafted all the young men into the army. Except the man's son, because his leg was broken.
His neighbors said, "Well that's good."
The man said, "How do you know it's good?"
The moral of the story is: For God causes all things to work together for the good for those who love him and are called according to His purposes.
Remember this the next time your horse gets out.
