Many will have us to believe that sin is no longer an issue once you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior.
However, that is where your battle to overcome sin, begins. We must be over comers of our flesh so that we are no longer slaves held captive to the devils wiles, because that is why man suffers.
We could not do that in our own natural power, but now we have been given the equipment so we can, but it takes training to learn how to resist the temptations of the devil to overcome the lusts of our flesh that causes us to be evil inwardly hurting people with our lying tongues, spiteful ways, devious minds, self centered ways, always conniving to get ahead of others to be top dog even to the point of murder rather it be literal murder or by tongue in slander, false accuser, gossip.
Christ died in our place to destroy the devils works. Man, being weak in spirit have been held captive to his temptations to become ones in his image such as, liars, deceivers, accusers, cheaters, fornicators, adulterers, perversion that lead us to broken family units, causing mental illness, addictions and alcoholics to relieve the pain from the consequences of sinful actions in our lives that we chose for ourselves by being our own god, without having need for God's input.
He died in our place out of God’s grace(goodness and mercy) so that we could have an
opportunity(a grace period of time) to help the “who so ever will” change all that and be restored to the way God had intended us to live towards Him and one another, being healthy, whole and happy never in need or want that would make us beg, borrow or steal.
Even Jesus, in the flesh body made for him, being made in our likeness of flesh in order to be our sacrifice, had to be tested to see if there was any rebellion towards God in him in order to fulfill the law legally as a man, not as having godly powers to overcome the temptations. He took all our sins to give us a clean slate to work with.
Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

It is the Spirit of God who leads us to the devil to be tempted so as to cleanse our hearts and purify our ways, to take away our sins so that we don‘t fall for the temptations of the devil any longer and suffer the consequences.
Matt 4:4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

If you have been smoothed talked into believing that the conviction of the Holy Spirit for the refining of our soul, is really the devil trying to make you feel condemned, know that it is God trying to salvage you from the error of your ways out of love and to save your soul from the consequences of your actions.
If you have errored in thinking that everything that comes against you is just the devil causing you trouble, realize that it is really consequences for falling for the devil schemes that is really the cause, but thank God we have Jesus to be able to repent as we are growing from spiritual babes to fully mature in Christ so we can strengthen from that stumble and get back up and to continue to carry that cross, till you have truly crossed over from death unto life and life more abundantly as God intended for His children. I call them Growing Pains.
God hates evil and child abuse. He is the only one whom can rightly judge the heart of a man and He chastens whom He loves because He knows what is best for His child and He knows that evil ways bring the curses upon us, not the blessings. He wants us to grow Straight, and tall in stature(integrity, godly character).
The devil is trying to stop this growth. He is the Tempter and Accuser to bring misery to a child of God's life. He puts thoughts of lust, greed, hatred, bitterness, pride, arrogance, vengeance, adultery, fornication, betrayal, unforgiveness, anger, fear, stress in your mind to get you to act out on them to bring you to ruin.
But it is we who must choose to take the bait, or to resist the devil and eventually he will flee… until another opportune time when you are weaker, such as in emotional pain or feeling down. Our words that we speak in these times will lift us back up and help us to proclaim our resistance of his seductions. When the devil trys to get you to step out of faith being out of line with God’s Word by tempting you to do wicked to others or to your own self, just say out loud what God said to do: I cast down those thoughts and every vain imagination that exalts it‘s self above the Word of God!!!
2 Cor 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Jesus had to whip out the sWord in his mouth (The Word) to fight the good fight. Three times he resisted the devil’s attempts to get him to accept his temptations, but he knew what to do by speaking God’s Word to counter attack the fiery darts of the devil. The devil fled and the angels came to minister to Jesus for his faithfulness to over come!
Never again let the devil kill, steal and destroy the blessings of God in your life by tempting you to sin. You have the helper the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth so that you can not be deceived. Learn how to fight the good fight of faith and be an over comer of your weak flesh by becoming strong in your spirit.
God does not judge you by what others do or say to or about you, He has to justly, reward you accordingly in regards to your actions and reactions to evil, this is where the devil gets to steal, kill and destroy us. Don’t let him get a foot hold! When wrong thoughts come don't react carelessly, Ask God for what to do and say and Whip out that counter attacking sword in your mouth! With “It is written” and you will be an over comer and enter the Peace of God.
