2 Chronicles 1
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
There are several people in scripture whom God blessed very richly, but none like Solomon. What was it about Solomon that pleased God to where he wanted to bless him with such an incredible blessing? The most obvious thing is that Solomon put his people, Gods people ahead of himself. Their welfare was more important to him than any wealth. He put Gods interest ahead of his own. He had a love for God that was passed down from his father, David, and he would rather bless god, by being the best king possible to his people, than have riches. He could have asked God for ANYTHING, but he chose wisdom. And, when he did that, God knew that Solomon would be a good king, and therefore blessed him with everything.
How did God bless Solomon. He literally opened the windows of Heaven and rained down blessings on him. Everybody wanted to give Solomon something. Sometimes it was gold and diamonds, and sometimes it was cattle, sheep and goats. Everywhere he went, people were giving him things, to a point where Solomon was so wealthy, that his wealth was overflowing onto all of those around him. He became the richest King ever, to this day. And, THAT IS HOW GOD BLESSES!
I think that the big question that many in the Body of Christ ask is will God still bless like that today? Does that scripture apply to us today? Many will say no, simply because it has not happened. I have to believe that we serve the same God that Solomon served and that we can still be blessed as Solomon, if we do what Solomon did.
Here is the problem with many who are in the church today. They say that they give themselves to God, but then only give him part of themselves. They do not want to part with their flesh. They lack faith, they lack trust and they say that they love him, but don’t show it. You can not please God with partial trust. You can not please God with only partial faith. And you can not please God with a love that is not a true love. You have to give him ALL of yourself, and that means you make him number one over EVERYTHING. He has to be the most important thing in your life, even over your family, your job, your health, your friends. When you do that, you don’t need to worry about those things because he will take care of everything.
For those of you who wish to receive all God has for you, I’m going to ask you to make some changes in your life. To those who really believe that God has something incredible for them, please say this prayer. Think about it and believe it while you are saying it.
Most Heavenly Father, my desire is to become more like you that I may be your true loving child. I give myself to you 100% mind, body and soul for your holy use. I make it my purpose in life to be a blessing to you at all times. I love you with a love that is true, that is I place you and your desires above everything else. I trust you implicitly with my very life. I have complete faith in your desire and ability to care for me and supply my every need. I rebuke my flesh and commit from this day forward to only listen to the Holy Spirit. Please mold me, shape me and change me so that I may become like you.
My Father, I commit this day to make you the most important thing in my life, and everything I do will be for you. Starting today, I will be a shining light of love, that when anybody looks at me, they will see you. I thank you, in advance for helping me to become like you. I pray this in The Name of Jesus, Amen!
Now, go and truly live for Him.
As you go about your daily routines, be talking to Him often. That is what he wants. He wants to share your life. You don’t need to pray to talk to him. Just talk to him like he is standing next to you. Try to always keep him in your mind. Don’t neglect him.
Every time you think about him, tell him that you love him.
Live to be a blessing to him. Always be looking for ways to bless him. And when you find a way, grab it. Don’t let it pass by for it is more valuable than gold.
Live to be a blessing to your fellow man. Become a blessing. Be a giver whenever you can.
If you choose to do all of these things, than you too can be a Solomon.
Don't take this out of context. I AM NOT saying to love and give yourself to God in order to be blessed. What I am saying is that most of us need to give God more of ourselves and we need to place him above everything else. And, when we do that, then God will know that he can trust us with the blessings that he has for us. Then he will bless us because we are his children, his loving family.
