The Bible says that God’s Spirit (in us) bare witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
Romans 8:16 (KJV)
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
This verse is saying a lot more than would immediately meets the eye. This is an awesome statement to make. The Spirit of God elevates us; we are not mere lowly humans. We have become something infinitely greater, even though it is not yet obvious. Keep this in mind.
This is why God is worthy of praise
God is faithful and trustworthy
Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
When God speaks things happen because He will do exactly what He says He will do. God is worthy of praise because He is trust worthy. How about us, do we make promises but fail to live up to them?
Sustainer
Psalm 78:69 (KJV)
And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
God not only does what He says, He also sustains what He creates. It is irresponsible to bring something into existence and leave to fend for it self, if it has no means of doing so. The creation cannot sustain it self; it is God who has been keeping creation in existence. Nothing that exist, exist apart from God’s will, and His will for it to keep existing. When we fully understand this, we will then understand how loving God is. God is not just worthy of praise because of what He has done for us personally, but also the fact that He sustains all of His creations.
Psalm 119:90 (KJV)
Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
Psalm 102:25 (KJV)
Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
Psalm 104:5 (KJV)
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
God is faithful even to the unjust
Matthew 5:45 (KJV)
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
He was faithful to Israel
Neh. 9:21 (KJV)
Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.
God knew that because the Israelites would be doing a lot of traveling, they would not be able to provide sustenance for themselves, so He did for them what they would not be able to do…..that is faithfulness!
God will be praised because of His faithfulness
Isaiah 49:7 (KJV)
Thus saith the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
Being faithful is not something in a vacuum; because God is faithful life has meaning, life is worth living, and things happen, things get done. People are able to function in harmony with their environment and with each other.
Faithful to His sons and daughters
1 Cor. 1:9 (KJV)
God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Because of God’s faithfulness we who were sinners can be born anew and call Jesus our Brother, and God our Father. But it doesn’t stop there, as if that wasn’t enough, it also means God has imparted His divine nature in us. But what does it mean to have God’s nature in us? God’s nature in us is the same as saying we have the Holy Spirit. It means that when we have been glorified, we will be like Jesus/God.
1 John 3:2 (KJV)
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
He is God.
John 1:1 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He (Jesus) is our Brother
John 20:17 (KJV)
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
We have the Spirit of God in us
1 Cor. 2:12 (KJV)
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
The Holy Spirit is the nature of God, and because He has imparted His nature to us, by the Holy Spirit, then we too have the ability to be as faithful the way God is. In fact God expect us to be faithful, even to the end. Being faithful involves our relationship with others, as it does with God. When God make a promise to us, we know that it is as good as done. When we give our word to someone or say we are going to perform a task, if we have the Spirit of God, then our desire will be to do as we say we will do, and we will make every effort to do so.
Matthew 24:45 (KJV)
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Matthew 25:23 (KJV)
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
The double minded person
James 1:8 (KJV)
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
James 4:8 (KJV)
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
God does not like the ways of the double minded person, because he/she cannot be relied upon to fulfill his word.
Being faithful is very important to God because things can only happen when those entrusted with responsibility is faithful. What kind of responsibility?
Kings and priest
Rev. 1:6 (KJV)
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
We will be like our elder Brother Jesus as He is now in glory
1 John 3:2 (KJV)
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
We will have the same position that Jesus holds
Rev. 17:14 (KJV)
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Rev. 19:16 (KJV)
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev. 5:10 (KJV)
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Rev. 17:14 (KJV)
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Hebrews 2:17 (KJV)
Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
There will be times and certain situation, that will prevent us from doing what we had interned to do, this is fine; we do not have under our control every thing that could possibly happed. Things will happen; others that we were counting on might change their mind, for example. The important thing is as long as we were up and ready to do as we had set ourselves to do.
Jesus is sustaining all things
Hebrews 1:3 (KJV)
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
John 1:3 (KJV)
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
The scripture is quite clear, Jesus created all things and He is the one who sustains all things. The scripture is also clear that we will be like Jesus, so we will, when glorified, assist (not that He needed any help) Jesus, our elder Brother in creating and sustaining all things.
As offspring of God we have an awesome responsibility that when we give our word, it means something. Others should be able to praise us on our ability to make our word our bond. The glorified children of God will be worthy of praised because like God, there Father, their word will not return to the void, but will accomplished what they set out to do.
The Bible says that God’s Spirit (in us) bare witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
Romans 8:16 (KJV)
