Getting out of the system is one thing, but getting the system out of you takes a lot longer. The process of pastorization kills the life in you. Just as pasteurization kills all living bacteria in milk (both good and bad) so the process of pastorization does likewise, to the pure milk of the word in the spirit.

Anyone?

John

John, are you talking about the central-pastor model alone, or is there more to what you are saying?

I have never been pastorized, although I was raised in a Baptist family, and attended a Baptist Church for years. For a long time, I have only considered my denomination as Christian. :)

What I refering to in part is the clergy/laity distinction that has only a single man functioning in his gift (unless he is not even gifted) during get-togethers. Of course all members are to function equally in the Body according to their capacity. :)

Please tell us of your conversion from this type of thinking Samuel!

The enemy would have all potential disciples to die a slow death by just sitting in pews til the Lord returns. Without a vision the people perish. So if the faith hope and first love have been knocked out of you...you've been pastorized! (Your potential has been sapped...)

...hmm...

The pastors I've had have always stressed that they were trying to make pastors out of us!

Why would they try to do what only God can do? :shrug Did you get any credits towards your ordination? :nono

:-) ha ha! No... I think what they were referring to was just getting out there and spreading the word.
