I also love pink floyd, as my favorite band and as the creators of the best movie ever. Their songs are highly metaphorical and have tons of allusions in them that you have to really think about to get.

It's easy to call something insane that you don't understand.

But I will admit, it is strange :-P

I've been to @ 4 Floyd tribute band gigs & seen the movie, Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii & that recent big charity reunion TV thing & 2/3 times each seen big anniversary/charity gigs where Dave Gilmour has been part of a special TV supergroup, as well as that '04 Earls Court gig shown Fri night

I've always enjoyed their music, but can only ever make out very few of their lyrics, as the 'mix' just treats vocals like extra instruments, so that any 'message' is simply drowned out

It was only that a real bargain batch of DVDs I bought last Dec included what I'd thought was that Dark Side Of The Moon album, but was in fact The Making Of......

It was only that many clips of Roger Waters talking @ his inspirations & influences, & just him or Dave doing clips of the songs just to an acoustic guitar, that I realised the themes that those websites above reveal

My comments @ Dave's facial expressions apply only to his recent live gigs - The Strat Pack '04 - for the 50th anniversary of rock's most popular lead guitar has been shown @ least 3 times in the year that I've had Sky

But he looked normal & happy in that '94 gig

As I said in the OP, the reason I began the thread was the psychological profile of the Suffolk killer

Granted I am going for my BA in psychology, so this may be my education talking, but I like to listen and do a sort of diagnosis on him:what he was feeling, why he felt that way, how drugs/alchogol attributes to his lyrics. If I recall right, the band name Pink Floyd just joined half each of the names of 2 kinda bluegrass bands from 1930s Appalachia - the '70s band never had a guy named Floyd, or one named Pink: I'm sure it was the father of one of 'em who had those inter-war bands in his record collection

I must admit, till I browsed a book called The Pink Floyd Story, I'd thought some guy called Floyd mighta turned bright pink with embarassment @ some kinda prank @ that kinda school

I'm sure 2 of the founding members - (Syd Barrett & Roger Waters?) - went to the same public boarding school together & met again after moving independently to London & that Dave Gilmour had been to the same school
