How rude of me

Yes, how rude of me not introducing myslef... hi, im frank.

I have a question, forgive me if it seems a bit ignorant...

Ya know how the story of the creation goes, 6 days work, one days rest....well why does the powerful God need to rest?

thnx

Hi Frank, welcome to the forums!! Nothing wrong with asking questions, its the only way to learn. My take on that is that God rested not because He was tired, but rather because His Creation work was completed. So in other words, on the 7th day He ceased from His work or rested. From that point the Bible never says that He resumed His Creation work, the Creation was completed in six days, and He rested or ceased on the seventh day.

The seven day week has been used as a pattern of different things down through history. The Jews had strict requirements for Sabbath keeping based on commandments given to them through Moses.

Later in the New Testament, the seven day week paints a picture of a Christian's life and our one day entering God's rest. We labor as Christians but if we belong to Him, we will one day enter His rest (See Hebrews 4).

Hi Nocturnal and Scott.

Thanks for answering my qs. So why is it that Christians only pray on a Sunday rather than more often throughout the week?

Do remember that Bilal is a Muslim. He follows Muhammad. Nowhere in the Quran does it say that Muslims must pray 5 times a day.... but they do anyway, following what Muhammad taught in his Hadith.

We know that Jesus warned about the kind of prayer and rituals that Muslims perform.

:)

You're welcome!! I personally don't just pray on Sunday. My God hears me 24/7 so I don't need to set aside a special time or day to talk to Him. I'm the same guy Sunday through Saturday... I don't reserve days to be a better person. I can't speak for others because my salvation is an individual thing... I live my life by conscience and conviction and not the direction the masses are heading. Being able to look myself in the mirror with a clean conscience is more important to me than impressing anyone else. Sometimes its meant walking a lonely road but I make no apologies... Christ told us living our life for Him wouldn't be easy.

Hope that helps... :) .

Scott, thanks.

Gary: And? Why would we trouble ourselves with praying five times a day, if we aren't meant to....

in answer to your claim, from http://www.load-islam.com/c/rebuttals/FivePrayers

"Let me briefly cite the places in the Glorious Qur'an where five Salat are mentioned.

"Fajr" Salat is mentioned in Surah Ta-Ha, Dahr, Hud, Qaf, Rum and Nur.

"Zuhr" Salat is mentioned in Surah Dahr, Qaf, Ta-Ha, Bani Israel or Isra and Rum.

"Asr" Salat is mentioned in Surah Baqaraah, Dahr, Hud, Ta-Ha, Qaf and Rum.

"Maghrib" Salat is mentioned in Surah Hud, Ta-Ha, Rum, and Qaf.

"Isha" Salat is mentioned in Surah Muzzammil, Tur, Dahr, Ta-Ha, Hud, Rum, Qaf, and Nur.

Beside the above all the Salats have been implicitly mentioned in Surah Al-Baqaraah, Isra, Ta-ha."

Judy, thanks for replying. I hope I have not insulted your religion or beliefs, but rather i was hoping some of my questions would be answered, so to increase my knowledge of Christianity. Better than running my mouth elsewhere without discussing it properly first.

Im sure you'll accept it agreeable for me to question your beliefs? After all, it does say in the Bible to 'prove all things':

I Thessalonians 5:21: "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."
