Psalm 121:5-8 (KJV)
5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

I hear in this passage that sun shall smite you by day and the moon by night. We understand that the consequences of heavy sunlight on our bodies but how does the moon by night affect us?

I dunno.... I sometimes need a haircut more often near the full moon, and I get this strange urge to howl.

Maybe like this...

But seriously, the moon has been thought to be the cause of a number of problems throughout the ages. The word "lunatic" is derived from a Latin phrase that means "moos struck". Some claim that there are more accidents during certain phases of the moon or that more people are born or die during some phases of the moon than others. It has long been believed that the moon has an effect on plants, and that sowing or harvesting during the wrong phase of the moon can cause a smaller harvest.

Jona. I'm confused of how you missed this.
Scripture says, 'The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.'

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5The Lord watches over you
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

This is a quote from the editors of the NET Bible:

One hardly thinks of the moon’s rays as being physically harmful, like those of the sun. The reference to the moon may simply lend poetic balance to the verse, but it is likely that the verse reflects an ancient, primitive belief that the moon could have an adverse effect on the mind (note the English expression “moonstruck,” which reflects such a belief). Another possibility is that the sun and moon stand by metonymy for harmful forces characteristic of the day and night, respectively.

Sad that you are yet to understand my point. Hope you are not sarcastic :p:nono:nono:nono:nono

Apparently according to the Gesenius' Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon, at that time some people attributed the coldness of the night to the moon.

Gen 37:9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
Gen 37:10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
