There was a time when a man would come home from work and put on his smoking jacket, light up his pipe, read the newspaper and await dinner .
Or maybe it was after dinner.
The wife often found the aroma of the pipe to be quite pleasing as it filled the house.
Many older men smoked pipes.
Many upper crust men smoked pipes, a sign of being distinguished.
And the more fancy the dinner jacket, supposedly, the happier the man.
Yes, how times change.
