What should I tell this person who knows little about using a PC, and wants to look at some photos I'm giving her, on a cd?

Does she use Paint?
Under accessories?

I don't know what software, other than that, that she has on her home computer.
 
If your friend is using Windows, she should be able to just click on the photo and an associated program will open it.

Internet Explorer will also open Jpgs.
