If you fail to grow and mature in God's Kingdom, are you still saved?

I told someone I believe I am saved, but just hit some obstacles.

and this is what they said:

There is a big difference of believing and knowing you have been ANOINTED (SAVED)

While I will say you could be Saved at your age, your post indicates you are not.

Have you read the BIBLE till it has been locked in your heart? Your post indicates you have not. There is no disgrace in being a babe in CHRIST. We all have been in our life. My concern is that you really think you are SAVED when in fact you are not. So you fail to grow and mature in GOD'S KINGDOM.

I WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE ANY FURTHER.

How to secure Salvation?

Strive to be obedient to Jesus in everything He teaches and commands. Jesus says "if you love me keep my commandments."

Forsake all and follow Jesus. Keep your eyes upon Him. :yes

Luke 9:23-26 said:
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.

amen glorydaz!

a further answer for you is this- we are saved by faith, when we live in faith we produce FRUIT of the Spirit. Those who bare fruit and endure in their faith until the end are saved. Those who began in faith but along the way perminently end up with dead faith and who do not produce any fruit will be burned and thrown away as an unfruitful brier.
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2Pe 1:5 ¶ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

2Pe 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

2Pe 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

2Pe 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2Pe 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

2Pe 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

2Pe 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Hope this helps

I want a fresh new start. I have accepted the fact that I cannot do everything myself (flesh and sin) and I need to rely on God, but when I want a fresh new start, it seems like I always ask for one every time I screw up and I am not sure how this is going to be different.

Every time I want to start fresh, I have something in the past that bothers me. It has to do with past sexual immoral sin, such as masturbation, I committed and have difficulty letting it go. Case in point:

I viewed pornographic videos or sexy videos and committed sexual sin. I remember in the midst of sin I had a thought of 'Holy Spirit' and 'demon', but justified that those thoughts had nothing to do with my sexual sin. I realize sexual immorality is a sin, but did I make things worse when those thoughts popped in my head and I continued on with sexual immorality? Was that blasphemous or am I still forgiven?

Most likely you need to recieve deliverance from God from this sin. Pray that He remove this sin from you and then guard against it. For instance whatever spikes your interest to do this sin- stay away from. If that means you have to look at the ground when you walk in the store so you do not see a pretty girl then look at the floor- if it means not watching tv or certain shows, dont watch if it means not letting yourself be alone where you can look at bad things or do bad things then do not be alone.-

Then when the thoughts come in your mind you need to catch them IMMEDIATELY and cast them down. Begin to war with them right away and rebuke them, tell them you will not think that way- you have the mind of Christ and He does not think this way- you have been delivered from the bondage of this sin by the blood of Jesus Christ- etc..... whatever it is that is true and scriptural that you can fight it with. Repent for what you have already done and believe you are forgiven NOW.

If you let the enemy keep concinving you that you are not forgiven and are in sin- the next suggestion from them is " your already in sin you might as well just do it" or some form of that so you must believe that when you have confessed your sins he is faithful and just to forgive you.

It may be helpful for you to fill yourself with scriptures about the deliverance from sin that we have in Christ- about the putting to death of the flesh- about the not walking in the carnal mind but in the Spirit etc.... Remember when Jesus was tempted He fought everything the enemy said with the word of God! That is your SWORD and it divides between SOUL and SPIRIT between joints and marrow! It can divide your sinful state away from your spiritual one and make you strong to stand.

Here is some audio you can listen to on the subject to edify you if you like.

Good advice, GodspromisesRyes.

It's like the man who had two dogs...one black and one white. They were always fighting. When asked which dog wins, the man replied, "The one I feed the most." We all sin, and sexual sins seem the hardest to get rid of. It doesn't mean one isn't saved if he is still beset with a particular sin, but the Holy Spirit is grieved and it will affect our relationship with the Lord if we continue to disobey. Just knowing Jesus defeated sin and it has no more power over us will enable you to put any sin behind you and walk in newness of life. Pray and read the Word...find a verse to recite when hit with impure thoughts and guard your eyes from temptation. The fact that it's bothering you is a good sign that you are saved, so I'd take great comfort in that. :thumb

Thank you for this. You've posted some excellent advice here.

Thanks for the responses everyone, but what about the last part of my post?

Hi GuitarIntro

From a practical viewpoint, there is a wonderful course by Neal Anderson, Freedom in Christ (assuming you are in the US) to help folk get free from all sorts of sin, including this. A lot of the thoughts in your head are not necessarily yours.

I read somewhere how, a few years after the American Civil War, a visitor from the North came to a small remote Southern town, and was surprised to find that slavery was still being practised. She enquired: when the War ended, the slaves had been told they were free. They asked their owner if it was true; he said it wasn’t; so they carried on working for him. But when they realised that they really were free, they stopped!

Nothing had changed in their actual status of freedom, it was that only when they believed it did it become effectual. It is the same with sin. God has set you free from it, and the way He has done it is to kill you.

If you are born again, then the Bible tells you that you died with Christ, and were even buried with Him. What is left of you after all this time? Dry bones. How can you sexually titillate a skeleton? A skeleton has no eyes to see with. Your skull is empty, there is no brain left to think lustful thoughts.

And you were raised with Him. Just like the bones in Ezekiel 37, God has clothed you with a new body. But it is Jesus’. He puts Jesus’ eyes in your eye sockets, Jesus’ tongue in your mouth, Jesus’ flesh on your bones. You are literally in Christ, in Him. It’s a cliché to tell believers, “When God looks at you, He sees Jesus,†but it’s true – who else can He see? How can He condemn you?

And He is in you – His brain, His mind are in your skull, ready to think His thoughts.

All this is by faith. Romans 6 tells us to know that we are dead, and, even when temptation arises, to count ourselves dead, whether we feel like it or not. We overcome temptation by faith in what He has already done.

That is all dashed off very quickly. Hope it helps.

No, that wasn't blasphemous, and, yes, you are still forgiven.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I need to spend more time with God and have more faith he can and will transform and renew my mind and body.

You are forgiven if you repent. Just dont repeat the same sin over and over.

Excellent series of audios. If I could give this to all Christians to listen to, I would. Our home fellowship have listened to all of them and some people have gone through this again and again on their own. It is such a powerful and scriptural message !
