Bible Study I Am A Bit Confused

Thanks for the help, I appreciate the fact that you had good intentions but I want to get help my way by coming here to discuss it. and no I haven't got through the whole NT yet Ray, I just read through certain parts of it.

I would strongly suggest reading through all of the NT first and continuing with that as your focus until you just can't learn any more that way; then the OT can be read in it's rightful place, as showing you more about your Savior. Even then, Psalms and Proverbs is the place to start with the OT.
You're 'feeding on' lots of stuff you can't know what to do with, because you haven't read through the NT yet.

The other main thing I would point out as you approach the Bible is to recognize you're literally entering a whole new world, and you're doing it as a new creation in Christ Jesus our Lord. Read through it recognizing that your first time through you can't possibly understand it all, you're just getting it IN you, where the Holy Spirit can make it come alive ...

Exactly which is why I get my commentary here. That and reading my Message Bible and occasionally going to church is all I need to learn and be happy.
this aint going to sit well ..but this is very much wrong { occasionally going to church } your never going to grow imagine eating only on occasion you need all the Bible you can get and then some more and you need church .yes there are times we all can not go.

Not everybody on this forum even goes to church. I at least go sometimes. I will decide what I need.

Just a thought. Doesn't God make that decision? After all....

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
"As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

Yes that's true you're correct. I just meant that nobody on this forum could decide for me if I needed to attend church every week because that is my decision.

That's a given isn't it?

Exactly, I was just trying to explain it because you sounded a bit confused. And for th0e record I do enjoy church when I decide to go, but Ezra can't tell me that I need to go every week because he nor anybody else on here can make decisions for me. That's the only point I was trying to make. So yeah, let's get back to the topic at hand now. :topic

But anyone can tell you to do something or not do something. You either accept what you hear or deny it. When you reply with statements like, "Don't tell me what to do." are you not doing exactly as you are requesting? This is an open forum and what you post is public. If you don't want to hear some the answers you might receive, maybe it's best not to ask the questions.

That's true, but my church attendance is off topic to the question being asked since it revolves around the Bible, not how often I go to church. I do have an awesome pastor for the record though. He is seriously like the coolest one ever since we share a lot of the same beliefs and interests. I can basically talk to him about anything anything everything. He is very much laid back like me which I absolutely love that about him! He doesn't force me to be there every week either. He's just happy to see me whenever I can and do decide to show up. He totally rocks! :rockingLol

your Church attendance is on topic with any question..... it is important when i see a statement like i have my Bible and go to church occasionally. it throws up a red flag of caution . you are right there are those on this forum who do not attend Church.. but they at one time was heavily involved with a church.. that is how they started out .. i dont need to go to Church to be saved ..i attend church i need the encouragement..i need the correction through the word.. and most all i need the reminder .plus we really do need the fellowship
i am a big advocate of sunday school and Church . you take my post as personal as trying to be your BOSS . that is wrong . as pointed out this is public i only give you what i feel is sound advice.. i could be wrong in my advice.. do your self a favor consider the advice you get in here from everyone.. far to many and at time i catch myself there. staying in a comfort zone we tend to stay in our circle and not move...
a old joke if you want to kill a baptist mention the word Change the unknown is scary but sometime we have to step out by faith . this goes fro me also none of this cost you a dime..
my ways are different and can come off as being blunt.. i cut my teeth on solid meat preaching. when the preacher said something he came out with out. pardon my english it suxs mainly because i knew more than my teacher in school

Ephesians 1:17 KJV
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Be it by:

Parables

God help us get understanding.

I LOVE that passage! It's also a really good spot to point out The Message (MSG) is very helpful, since KJV is rather awkward there:

"I ask - ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ the God of Glory - to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing Him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is He is calling you to do"

Now I have to ask Eddiff about BSPSPP; what does photosynthesis allude to? In a plant it turns sunlight into energy, and that's exactly where this passage goes next. And again The Message makes that point clear, which it usually does with Paul's writing.

I think that they meant "osmosis" and got a tad confused.

You Kno...when you put an open book on your face and take a nap so that the information just falls outta the book and into your head.

The Father is the source - like the sun.
Jesus is the reflection of his father - like the moon.

The energy of the father / light is processed in us that we might have benefit in our lives and bear fruit for others (preaching?). The fruit we produce is planted in others (Christ in us).

The nature of plants is given at creation (the plant does not get the credit).

God works in us to will and to do of his good pleasure (he gets the credit for planting the word in us).

I love photosynthesis because the energy of the sun (light) is actually turned into cellulose and fruit. The things of God are truly seen in what he created.

But I am actually a redneck from Mississippi and muddle along with the glimpse of the glory of creation. It reads about the same as the Bible, but on a different level.

We are fertilized by dung of life. Now that might not be a popular statement but chop weeds from around a plant, water it, apply fertilizer and watch it grow. We grow in a similar way ( by his design).

Others may can say the same thing better.
