I don't hate God anymore

When I first left Christianity and my faith behind, I hated God for a very long time. But now that's just a faded memory and I feel no animosity towards God anymore.

Hang in there........ the feeling will return one day. But when it does, remember this post. Because THAT feeling will also go away again.

My first encounter with God was with me cursing Him for allowing my best friends, horrible, death. As I look back, today, God took a servant out of service and took him home to get another servant to fill his shoes. Heinen waits to greet me in Eternity and I have had the joy of service to my Lord and because I yielded to serve I have seen hundreds make that profession of faith. God's way is not my way, ain't we all glad?

Like you, I'm willing to bet, I'm so happy that how I feel has nothing to do with my salvation. It ain't got nothin' to do with Poet's either! How so ever, God is still growin' every one of us. Some of us is still learnin' how to speak Texan. :biggrin2

I used to actually stand outside in the dark of night shaking my fist at the Heavens, and cussing. God works with each of us. I still feel some frustration, but I have finally reached the point of just (sort of calmly) asking, "Why, God?"

One of these days I'll be able to look at most anything, and say, "OK, I'll do it." (I can actually do that with SOME things already.)

Please understand when I say this next statement you may be hurt, maybe confused, you may even think I am breaching the TOS. But I have to say it, because you have all assumed my OP means something else.

Note: If my next post is a breach of TOS please delete it.

I don't hate the God of the bible anymore because I have forgiven him.

As I said, it was a "start". I think they had a link to something by Swindoll at the bottom.

Although you may not realize it now, or maybe you do, the next step is to begin working on forgiving yourself. As your relationship with God begins to heal and the Spirit works on you from the inside, you may start to recognize that you may have been in the wrong. That's okay. Go with it, release those feelings and lay them at the foot of the cross. God is a forgiving God, full of compassion and love.

I'm not returning to God wip, I'm determined to stay as far away from my old christian mindset as possible.

Maybe staying away from your "old" Christian mindset is what is needed. As others have already suggested, it's quite possible that your old mindset might have been misguided or fogged by religion.

God, the great demister in the sky.

Likewise. There's no way I'll EVER return to that old mindset. I'll leave that absurdity to the millions of people who choose to believe it.
