I finally went to Church again

J

Johny

Guest
Well, I went to Church yesterday (I'm Catholic) for the first time in around 7 years. I have to say, I enjoyed it. For some reason I had this idea of churches being full of hypocrytes, but after looking around once I sat down everyone seemed just like me. :) I'll be going every week now.

I wasn't overcome with joy or jubilation during the mass, but it felt right. After the mass I was overcome with a sense of peace, mass was a good thing.

When I used to go to mass it was a french Church, since the Church I went to yesterday was English I didn't know the prayers (except for the Lord's Prayer).

If anybody knows the Prayers, would you mind just giving the title so I could learn them?

Anyways, just wanted to share. :)

Praise God!

Mass prayers are The Apostle Creed, The Lamb of God, the Gloria, Glory to God in the highest...., Holy Holy Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory, hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name in the name of the lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Good to hear Johnny. Good to hear. Anytime you got questions or concerns, here for ya.

Thanks for the the names of the Prayers Thessalonian, and thanks belovedwolf.

I just noticed I put this in the wrong sub-forum, the mods can move to General or wherever it belongs.

That is great to hear. 8-) I commend you and everyone else who comes closer to God. When Christians act like Christians, it is a very beautiful thing.

I am sorry to hear that. I was hoping that you would have learned church is not a place you can go to. You have be Church, well the alure of the lazy litergy is hard to resist I geuss.

I used to go to a Catholic Church but I don't feel like they do anything. The priest says a few things, they mumble a few memorizations, ect. I don't think that the Chruch system is the greatest. Believers should gather and share thoughts.

I realise that going to Church doesn't reach to all of one's spiritual needs, but does it do any harm? I decided to go, I didn't find any wrong with it.

To tell you the truth, I enjoy a more "preaching" approach, but that isn't a popular thing where I live.

I find it hard to decided wether to go to Church or not, because there seems to be two extremes but nothing in the middle.

Johny,

Jesus wants His followers to be hot. That means extreme. :)

Jesus says to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind; this is extreme!

Johny,

I invite you to ignore the few negative comments (this particular section tends to be rather ravenous, so perhaps a kind mod will move your thread). It is truly GREAT that you are seeking to the Lord and going to Church again. I pray you continue to have a positive experience.

If you need anything else, or more info. other than what Thessalonian posted, feel free to let me know.

I don't quite understand what you're saying. If I go to Church than I don't love God as much as I could?

Christains are followers of Christ; too many people dont even know this basic principle. Our first priority is to know Him. How do we get to know Him? by reading the Bible everyday and strive to obey everything what He says. Ask your people if they read the Bible everyday. If you are surrounded by so many people who dont even read the Bible eveyday you will learn to be just like them. The Bible cautions about it. Do you think we will be a good witnesses for Him without reading the Bible and obey?

There are thousands of spiritual problems because Jesus is not center of christian lives. How can you say you love Him with all your heart and you don't follow through with your action?

The Bible is not just for preacher and pastors; it is for all His followers.

The Bible tells us to watch out for false prophets and I know this also means false brethen.

You never know if you are decieved if you just blindly follow the crowd. The church organization is just another crowd in this country.

Jesus is been treated so cheaply :crying: :crying: :crying:

I dont think you will find that in a great number of places, Johny. The Baptist church I go to with a friend is really heavy on Bible insistence. Very few read it everyday there. At least at our Church,(the RCC), you can hear readings everyday that you go.

But I agree on reading your bible. Its important. But other spiritual reading is also good. The "Imitation of Christ" by Thomas Kempis is an invaluable work. Second best seller, next to the Bible.

Johny,

If you take advice from another chuchgoers you will be just like them. Their purpose is to make you like them. We should be like Jesus and not like other churchgoers. Please make sure yur own salvation and not to rely on others, not even other pastors or preachers. period. He wants you to have your own relationship with Him.

How do we become like Jesus? By reading New Testament thoroghly and strive to obey everything what He teaches.

This is directly contrary to Romans 12 where it says we are the body of Christ and are to depend on one another, just as one part of you body depends on the other parts. To give your own personal spin on this turning people in the wrong direction might well lead people to hell. I can be okay with you being in ignroace but to spread your infectious errors to others as if you have some authority AND HE SHOULD LISTEN TO YOU is damnable. Further your judgemental, pharasitical attitude toward Christians who go to Church is deplorable, broad brushing them as all evil people. Apparently you think Church goers are going to hell. Do you sin ginerger. Can you admit that you do. I've not seen it yet. This is the condemnation of the scribes and the pharasees.

Blessings

Thess, where have you been?

You are mususing these verces. We have plenty of false prophets and brethren. I am using my wisdom the Bible taught me. The Bible also says to watch out for false prophets.

BTW, are you a priest?

Been going the rounds with a nasty virus. Yes, I know you've been trying to learn from the Bible yourself. That is commenable but the scriptures say "trust not in your own understanding".

Now are you going to answer my other question. Is gingercat a sinner?

Your winging it and making yourself out to be a self proclaimed prophet. Sorry hun. It doesn't work that way.

The Bible tells us we are all sinners. what does that have to do with anything what I am saying?

I am here to voice my convictions. Isn't that what you are doing too?

Just because I don't agree with your doctrines I am being unbiblical?

I have been reading the Bible and doing my best to follow Jesus. Do you know how I make discerning who I fellowship with? By looking at their fruit, not what they say or their theology says.

If you nitpick what we already discussed I will discontinue this. I have been stating my position many times already. It is very old.

I getting a little tired of thess insulting people and nothing happening about it. He is not debating he attacking peoples character. He has also been sending varous poeple rather mean spirited PMs
