Here are all the new testament scriptures, which either show entirely that evil is present with us, or that, that law is not present with us. ( and that good is present, instead.)

Matthew 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

Matthew 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Luke 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Luke 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

2 Corinthians 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

3 John 1:12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

Concerning the apparent contradiction (in that a good tree cannot bear bad fruit; in light of the fact that when I would do good, evil is present with me)...

Paul is saying that sin dwells in his mortal flesh and that sometimes that nature of sin controls his behaviour.

It should be clear, if you understand Colossians 2:11, that the sinful nature can be put off from you (cut away, nlt) and that in this, sin will no longer control your behaviour.

For sin controls your behavior for as long as it dwells within you.

However, the sinful nature can be cut away in the circumcision of Christ (Colossians 2:11, nlt).

Therefore, it would not any longer have control over your behaviour.

Evil is present when we were in the flesh, we are no longer in it if we are in the Spirit. ( to be in the Spirit is to be dead to sin, and believe that Christ is risen, and is risen within you.)

The law ( sin) has no more dominion over us if we are dead to sin.

Romans 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Sin ( evil present with them) is when it still has dominion over them, as they are under the law/sin and are not under grace.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Justbyfaith, the thread is concerning all the verses in the entire new test about doing good, they show the way ( faith) and any other way ( denial/non acknowledgement) is not of faith.

The first father sinned. ( father of non belief,no faith)

Isaiah 43:27 Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

But that is not the father of us all, Abraham is. ( father of faith/ of the faithful.)

Romans 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

Romans 4:12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

Romans 4:16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

Those who do not have God as their Father, ( Father of faith) have the devil instead. We inherit from one or the other. ( we only inherit lies from the devil father.)

Jeremiah 16:19 O Lord, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

But from Abraham the father of faith, we inherit the promise, as the inheritance is not of the law. ( not of faithlessness no inheritance from Adam)

Abraham receiving Isaac as a seal, is receiving Christ. ( Christ also inherited a better name than the angels, including the lying devil, the father of those who inherit lies.)

Galatians 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Ephesians 1: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

Hebrews 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

There is no point ( apart from deception) to offer our own opinion on what inheritance is.

But through faith and patience we inherit the promises.

Abraham by faith to receive for an inheritance obeyed.

We look diligently to not fail of the grace of Good, ( many are defiled) to not let bitterness spring up, to not be a fornicator, to inherit the blessing, and not be rejected finding no place of repentance.

Our inheritance is uncorruptible, undefiled.

We do not return evil for evil, but blessing, to inherit a blessing, that is what we were called to believe in.

He that overcomes shall inherit all things; then God is our Father, and we are His son.

Hebrews 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

1 Peter 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

1 Peter 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

If you think I am in error Gordon, show me the one who has not sinned sir, as I fail to see your point. It is true that Abraham is the father of many nations, but only Adam is the forefather of all nations, the forefather of Abraham himself sir.
