I will try that....thanks :)

You can have only one resident anti-virus program, but there are on demand products that will double check your computer for you. I use 3 of them, in addition to my resident program:

Emsisoft Emergency Kit
Malwarebytes
Super Antispyware

If it is too much hassle to switch resident anti virus programs, but you still want a double check of your computer, the three vendors above offer a free on demand product to do so. Just make sure to download the free on demand product, not a resident demo. Here is the URL for Emsisoft:

Thanks Michael.I just downloaded Emsisoft. It seemed to do fine. For some reason I have tried to download Malwarebytes in the past and I have had trouble with it.Now I will do some scanning. With all the garbage I have on my computer it will probably take two days :)
In the lists of things I can do it shows "configuration".What is that?

I think you're overly concerned. I have never concerned myself when switching anti-virus software. Just uninstall the one you have, download and install the one you are switching to, check for recent updates, and execute a full system scan (most will either recommend this or do it by default). I find it extremely unlikely that a virus would be picked up in the few seconds that you will not have a AV installed while you are installing the new one.

I think I will stay with Avast.I have had good results with it.I think you are right. If it ain't broke don't fix it :) I really like Emsisoft that Michael gave me to download.I will just use that.
