Proverbs 31:6 kjv
6.Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
This is not an excuse to abuse alcohol. If you do drink it kills your memory (especially if you drink more than enough).
Proverbs 31:4 kjv
4. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5. Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
As a Christian you are a king.
1 Timothy 5:23 kjv
23. Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
A little. Do you hear me. Not a moderate amount. A little.
That is Old Testament mostly.
Now
Be anxious for nothing but with prayers make your requests be made known to God.
We have endorphins made inside our bodies that block pain. As a king and priest. Work on your level to have the inner drive to deal with pain. I personally the balm of Gilead. Not the perfume used as a pain reliever, but the inner strength Jesus gives us.
I am sure I will get severely chastised for my statements by some.
By grace you need a spiritual cure. Seek that spiritual help (which is what you are doing).
Jesus refused the pain killer on the cross. You have the ability. Not by your flesh but by grace through faith.
Find someone who has conquered alcohol and talk with them.
Reality therapy is to say I am a drunk. I need help from outside myself. That help can move inside you.
Memorize these scriptures.
Revelation 3:20
1 Peter 2:24if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I am for you and not against you. The real you in Christ Jesus.

Hi Beverly. I'm fellow brethren. No one is judging you. I'm trying to help you out of love and compassion. I'm servant of the living God. Psalm 90:1. Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. 90:2. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou formed the earth and the world. God created this world, and universe. Jesus created all souls. God knows our pain and problems in life. Christian people need to repent sins to God and pray to God. You must have Faith. 90:3. Thou turns man to destruction; and says, Return, ye children of men. Our flesh life life is like vapor. Were lucky to live 70 years. Mabey 90 years. God gives the decree, and that person dies and their spiritual body goes back to God. Jesus is in control. God is our Father. Have you talked to Jesus about your situation ? Have you shown faith? Luke 17:12. And as He entered into a certain village, there met Him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off. 17:13. And they lifted up their voices , and said, Jesus, master, have mercy on us. The word mercy means compassion. These ten lepers have the faith to ask Jesus for a healing. You must have faith. Luke 17:19. And He said unto him, Arise, go thy way; thy Faith have made thee whole. Sister, you must ask Jesus in faith. Your physical problem or depression. Only Jesus can heal you, and help you. I'm only servant of God. Repent and pray to God in Faith. Be persistent, don't give up. The key is faith and being persistent. Don't give up. Pray to Jesus.

Hello Beverly
Sorry you are suffering so much. From what you say I am understanding that you have been suffering ftom depression since your husband passed away.
Sometimes we can get stuck in one of the stages of grief. When I lixt my husband 21 years ago I ran straight to Jesus. He can pu you out of this Beverly. Tell Him everything and cry on His shoulder and ask The Lord to help you. Believe He will and be patient with yourself. He loves you so much.

You need deliverance as you rightly surmise. I suggest Derek Prince who had a ministry of deliverance and has many teaching sessions on line including prayer to be delivered right where you are. Here is one link. It is very old but the truth is not.
I would listen to all his teaching on deliverance from the enemy you can find free on Youtube. Finding someone who can pray over you and speak with authority against the enemy is tough these days.
Just so you know, Derek himself was surprised to learn that he needed to be delivered from a spirit of depression and once delivered, his depression left him. So do not be ashamed if this is the case with you. He would stand with you and say that he too, had an unclean spirit of depression he needed deliverance from.
But I feel like I cannot just say "be delivered be happy" and not stand with you in this battle. Could you find time to listen to this teaching and a few others and then, if still not free, PM me and I will see what God would say to me about you? I have had a little experience deliverance but only a few times besides my own battle with the enemy in my own life. I am willing to seek him but it would be better if you got some understanding. Ask God to show you what the problem is or where the enemy has something in you. It is always best if you, yourself, find out what the handle the enemy has on you is. Try this input, ask God to show you, and PM me if you need assistance.

If you can get to the root cause of your physical problem and try to get a solution there . I am not talking about pills for ills , not much different from drinking the alcohol kill the pain , both are bandaid fixes . I took truckloads of pills from the MD's for my physical aliment with limited help only to find out a change in my diet was the answer , praise God !
I don't need to point out scripture for you , but the Holy Spirit can . Read your bible and spend as much time in prayer as you can . I will be praying
