I know in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.Romans 7:18

Do the teachers who claim that the Apostle Paul had no good thing in his flesh, and how to perform that which is good, he could not find, want a word study, on the word: good ?

Here we begin with Psalms, of there being none that does good.

They are corrupt and have done iniquity, ( sin) as told in 2 Peter 2, they promise liberty and they themselves are the servants of corruption.

They are gone back, they are become filthy, none that does good, not one.

Romans 3 confirms, none righteous not one, they are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable, there is none that does good, not one.

Their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Psalm 14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Psalm 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.

Psalm 53:3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

2 Peter 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Come children to learn what thew fear of God is.

If we desire life to see good, we keep our tongue from evil, we depart from evil and do good, the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

The transgression of the wicked says there is no fear of God before their eyes. The words of their mouth are iniquity and deceit, they left off to be wise and to do good, they set themselves in a way that is not good, they do not hate evil.

As confirmed in 1 Peter 3, we are to be of one mind, having compassion one of another, loving, pitiful, not returning evil for evil, but blessing, ( doing good) that we might receive a blessing.

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile, let him eschew evil, and do good.

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

Also confirmed in Jude, how they do not do good as they fear not the Lord. They are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear.

Psalm 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Psalm 34:12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Psalm 36:The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

Here is all the old test scripture, of exactly how to perform the good, that we would.

Does all of the old test witness show that the future believers of the good news, wont be able to do the good they would, ( the good they heard and believed in Jesus Christ) or all the verses in the whole old test show we will be doing the good ?

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Proverbs 24:23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

Proverbs 28:21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

Ecclesiastes 2:26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Concerning Romans 3:10-18, it is qualified by verses 9 and 19.

In verse 9, it becomes clear that Jew and Gentile are alike under sin; and this relates to the entire passage. However, there is a third people group mentioned in 1 Corinthians 10:32.

In verse 19, it becomes clear that verses 10-18 are speaking to and about those who are under the law; and that if you are not under the law (Romans 6:14), it therefore does not apply to you.

For if you are not under the law but under grace, then you are of that third people group, that is not under sin.

For you have been justified apart from the works of the law through faith in Jesus Christ.

There is one group, and it is those who believe in the good, to do the good.

Another group cant exist, because to believe in the good is to believe in the existence of the good Lord God.

There was none that did good, not one, and if Paul speaks about not being able to do the good he would, that is the case of the whole world when they do not believe in Christ, the one who is good. ( risen)

So it is rather easy to see that if Paul who was a spirit begotten apostle had to struggle, how hard it might be for the normal flock of Jesus' followers. We can only do the best we can sir.
