I'm always in pain.
I don't know why.
I do everything right (almost).
Some bad habits are hard to break, plus you can't quit everything all at once.

I have Barrett's Esophagus.
Look that up and I guarantee it doesn't sound nearly as bad as it feels everyday.

So now diet is everything.
Now, after 8 months of struggling and not seeing much progress, I am stuck eating my Italian wife's home made eggplant and panzerotti.

I just don't know what to do.

I could use some prayers on that, now that you mention it.

wow. So, do you have to do lots of check ups? treatments?

Sorry this is happening.

I take 3x doses of opiate pain meds every 2-3 hours to function during waking hours (been through withdrawal twice). I see a doctor once/month. Been this way for almost 40 years (since being a passenger in a bad car accident). Also have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Migraine headaches.

Ouch. That's rough. Have you ever been given a trial of an Rx stimulant? Clearly, I'm not giving you medical advice, but...I had a relative w/ chronic pain who needed heavy doses of pain meds. Adding an Rx stimulant helped w/ the fog and sedation from the pain meds and brightened her mood.

Thanks, CE. Never heard of "Rx stimulant" before. I'll ask my PCP about it, start reading about it. The opiate schedule is destroying me. I basically go through withdrawal every morning (as you go "dry" during your sleep phase). The fog is thick, sex drive is a memory, weird behavior and thoughts all the time. If I could even reduce the doses, it would change my life.

hey man. Rx just means prescription. I think my relative takes Ritalin. Its the stuff they use for ADD/ADHD, narcolepsy, and some cases of depression...rarely for weight loss, too. Prescription amphetamines, basically.

OK, thanks again. I'm reading up on it right now. Who knows, this might be the magic bullet I've been praying for.

whoa there....I'm not pushing this as a "magic bullet," lol. I just have a relative who benefited from adding a stimulant. I think she's reduced her pain meds at this point, which probably helps, too.

Most stimulants are potentially addictive. There's new one...Provigil...mostly used for narcolepsy, but sometimes used for other issues, too. Its effective for some people, less addictive, and I think you can actually get refills on it.

OK, I got you now. Well, I should still investigate it. If taking a stimulant reduces narcotic dosage, which it sounds like it does sometimes, it could pull me back from the cliff edge. I'm already addicted, so it's just a question of to what.
