I need scripture please

Nikki

I know that the bible says that sometimes God does things (even things we consider "BAD or DEVASTATING") to help open unbelievers eyes. I have no clue where it is in the bible though and I've got to leave for class soon. Does anyone have any scripture to help me?

Ro 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but [rather] through their fall salvation [is come] unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
Hope that helped.

Thank you! I finally found some others:

Discipline and its benefits

Another possible purpose behind the suffering is discipline. "You have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: 'My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.' Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?" Hebrews 12 :4-7 And as with parents raising children there is discipline which is corrective, being punishment; and there is discipline which is preventative, being a warning. As children trust parents in the midst of being subjected to such disciplines, so we should trust God being likewise subjected to His disciple for our own good. "Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Heb 12:9-11
For example we have Paul who writes, "We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead." 2Cor 1:8,9

Once you find your scriptures how do you determine WHICH if ANY of the events were caused by God?

Oh, I don't. I have always said that I have no clue if God was behind any disaster. In a way I believe he was, but if he was, I have no clue what his motive was. I was just trying to find scripture that prooved it was "possible". I never guarantee anything I say unless scripture is clear on that. Now, if scripture said "In the year 2005, I will make a hurricane wipe out New Orleans", then I would argue.

Here is a couple verses I found.....

It deals with the PUNISHMENT of eating your sons flesh (Canibalism) for disbelief in the Truth.....

Leviticus 26:29 (King James Version)

29And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

Deuteronomy 28:53 (King James Version)

53And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:

Not sure if that helps but.........

Funny you mention eyes and unbelievers in the same sentence.

Acts 22:6

God blinded Saul when he was an unbeliever who becomes known later as Paul to get his attention.
