I pray to the Holy Spirit and He shows me the truths.......

I've accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior(long ago), I pray to the Holy Spirit many times a day & pray to Him before I read Sacred Scripture. I see the truths of the catholic faith after praying to the Holy Spirit. My question is, since everyone is a selfinterpreter ...

Shouldn't all interpretations be o.k with this logic? since there is no consistancy. You can't even agree with eachother on who is rightly interpreting. Isn't this important? If you don't know whos right how do you know who's wrong.... There is so much division and you have people starting there own church when they think they're going to make the true church. Isn't all the division, not from God? Or is it from Him? He said to be one as He and the Father are one. He and the Father agree on doctrine and all issues.

What does this Scripture mean to you?
  • 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:20
Also, what is the gift of prophesy today? Is it proclaiming the Word of God, or is it making predictions pertaining to the future?

This scripture is a very important. Division between Christian brothers has been caused because of lack of knowledge of this verse. Now we have every one prescribing to this private interpretation which has lead to thousands upon thousands of breaks in the Body of Christ. It's almost like a modern day gnosticism whereby everyone has a "secret knowledge" and they know what the scriptures "really means" when they all contradict eachother on interpretation , many important issues. I believe this is a product of rationalism that all suffer from today since it is so ingrained in our society.

Both and to let people know something that God has told you to tell a person

What is the Scriptural cure of the problem that you define so that there are not many interpretations?

Then are we in agreement that the Holy Spirit gives the spiritual gifts to individuals as HE determines, and that the gift of Prophesy would be given to proclaim the Word of God as directed by the Holy Spirit?

jn 17:20-23"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

1 cor 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

rom 16:17 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

Great Scriptures that direct the unity of One Faith!

How do we accomplish the unity of One Faith in resolving the problem as you previously stated, "Now we have every one prescribing to this private interpretation which has lead to thousands upon thousands of breaks in the Body of Christ"?

We have a Unity of the Faith as you have answered in the affirmative to the statement below: :D
