If your heart is deceiving you, then a dream would be deception also:

25 "I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in My name, saying,`I have dreamed, I have dreamed!'
26 "How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart,

Why not test your gift of prophecy. Reveal what will happen in the future. Or perhaps, after pledging every dime goes to Christ, prophesy tomorrow's winning lottery numbers.

You could go to the casino and play every machine you prophesy pays good. See if you go home broke.

I don't know that we have prophets in this day and age. Ooh, but that is a can of worms: whether or not the "spiritual gifts" are still in use is a big to-do.

I believe the two witnesses in Revelation are prophets, and in the last seven years of this age the Holy Spirit will be poured out on the church and they will prophesy.

But I question if that time is here now. I am a Cessationist, haven't seen anyone today that is a real "prophet" like in scripture.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, he could be the first. But he should be careful:

"The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? (Jer. 17:9 NKJ)

One of the spirits he should test is his own:

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 Jn. 4:1 NKJ)

Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. (2 Cor. 13:5 NKJ)

God gives holy spirit to few. Many people have spirit of slumber for their protection. God decided in first earth age who gets holy spirit or spirit of slumber. God knows His children. Who He can trust and can't depend on. Only few have holy spirit. First Corinthians chapter 2:14. But the natural man received not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spirtualty Discerned. Get the picture. Discernment comes from holy spirit. A really gifted person can tell who kenites are. The holy spirit is needed to get into God's kingdom. Those who have spirit of slumber, have no spirtual guidance. Holy spirit helps with infirmities. To understand mystery of God. Its God's decision who gets the holy spirit.
